Lantus Cancer Risk?

I'm reading Dr. Bernstein's book and it has the following quote..

"an internationally renowned diabetologist pointed out the scientific likelihood that Lantus could cause a higher incidence of cancer than other insulins [...] why use an insulin that has even a very small risk of promoting cancer when an equally good and less costly one already exists?"

Has anyone read any further into this? Must confess I find it a little worrying.

I think this was dealt with a couple of years ago. Have you googled? Consensus is the link was found to be false.

In my view the main disadvantage to Lantus is that for some users it sometimes dumps its whole effect at one time so you get a massive hypo. See the Insulin forum if interested in that.

Thanks both. I've been happy with the action of Lantus - it seems to hold me steady over 24 hrs and I haven't had any adverse hypos or effects (even with intense exercising). It was just this cancer reference I was worried about, but seems a lot of studies have discredited that theorem. Thanks again.

Sure the cancer scare was put to bed around 2 years ago.
