There's a new series starting on Animal Planet called Meet the Orangutans on Thursday night 8pm (repeated Friday 1am and Sunday 5pm) about orphaned baby orangs in Borneo. Most are orphaned during forest clearance for palm oil.
Although it's tragic that there is a need for the sanctuary, these babies are adorable and often very funny to watch ;)

"Meet the Orangutans is a window into the extraordinary daily drama of the world's oldest Orangutan Sanctuary. From babies being bottle-fed and wearing nappies, to teenagers being taught how to climb trees, and wounded Orangutans arriving at the sanctuary needing urgent veterinary care, there is never a dull moment. The human carers, run by eccentric Brit Sue Sheward, are every bit as colourful too, and the jury's still out on who rules the roost - the staff or the apes."

Did you see the tv last night , about animals and their emotions ...amazing

Animal Planet is th main reason I keep Sky, they have so many ape programmes :)

'Pick' channel on Freeview are repeating the Monkey Life series from the start, 5pm and 5.30 weekday afternoons, one of my all-time favourites :D
Thank, you for all, your lovely information ...that is great ;)

Thanks Kat :) but will have to miss out on the orang utans :(

Two different series, Orangutan Island and Oranguatan Diary, DVDs on Amazon, I've got them both, brilliant series, no need to miss out ;)
So pleased I looked on Amazon just now, Orangutan Islaand brought out a 3rd DVD in 2013 that i didn't know about, have just ordered it :)
Can you guess that I LOVE orangs? :D

Pity I can't see it either. I have a very soft spot for orangutans and boycott palm oil.

That's a shame, but maybe you could get the DVDs mentioned in the post above yours?

One of the joys of living alone - I can watch all the animal documentaries I want! :D My ex hated them, all he wanted to watch was sport and shoot-em-up films, which I hate!

Sadly I haven't. I often think if I had my time over again I'd go and work in one of the sanctuaries, orangs, chimps, gorillas or elephants, wouldn't mind which, I love them all :)
Elephant Diaries, another excellent series available from Amazon ;)
