I posted this earlier elsewhere on this site but it seems to have gotten lost so I recreated this piece here now for the benefit of everyone.

I've been on this journey a while and my disposition is to never chuck out any decent clothing. Personally I like Levi jeans and over the last 20 years my closet ended up with over 32 different pairs before I got around to doing a thin down of that count. All the jeans at one time or another did actually fit me. So here's the good news. Today I celebrate losing a full 48 lbs from my worst levels at close on 18 stones or 252 lbs. I am a full 3 stones 6 lbs lighter @ 203.5lbs. My neuropathy is becoming less and less of a problem too. So could my jeans have educated me?

Here's the punch line. I got out some of these smaller 34" waist jeans (that are beautiful in condition) and tried them on. Even having lost the weight that I have, I still have a massive muffin top spilling over my waistline! I am blown away! I have one question "Well how did I get here?"

I asked my wife what was my bottom like when we got married? She told me it was cute & like 2 oranges. Here's to more fruit ! Cheers!

FYI My BMI is now 24.8! Yea!
Diagnosed T2 March 2014 BMI 30.3
Taking less meds & getting less neuropathy too.
Due a HbA1c soon. Waiting for a call from my Doctor.
Waist measurement is now 34-35 ish" down from 39"
How did I get here (lose the 48lbs)? I've a bike & a local gym where I lift weights & I do one or the other everyday.

Hello Living-by-the-Beach, congrats for losing all that weight, you must be feeling so special. I hope that you can shift the muffin top, and you gain even more confidence and your condition improved even more. I have a lot of weight to shift, but not getting anywhere at getting it moved, so re-looking at the diet plan, congrats again, ttfn from Karen

@Scouser58 I am not sure I am feeling special, this T2D is a nasty disease. As I nudge 60 years of age getting on a bike like a teenager isn't somewhere I want to be doing every day for the rest of my life. However, I may as well put up with it as long as I can..

Morning Living-by-the-Beach, yes you should be special, many of us T2's are trying very hard and getting nowhere. You mentioned riding a bike, is that an exercise bike or a road bike, I can just about manage a few minutes on an exercise bike!. You can do as much or as little as you wish to, just keep up the excellent progress, really jealous, but glad for you, ttfn from Karen

@Scouser58 I have a Schwinn Airdyne & a road bike, I prefer the road bike. The Airdyne can allow one to do a workout in less than 10 minutes. My avatar is where I cycle almost every other day. I am not nearly as successful as other posters here on this blogsite when it comes to weight loss. After the best part of 1 year of fitness training, and losing the weight i have, I am way fitter than I was. Yet it remains to be seen if I can completely rid myself of the symptoms of T2D. Some days I just can't get on a bike or go to a gym. I probably did too much yesterday and I feel fed up! We all have good and bad days! Its hard to be rah rah all the time..

@Scouser58 I had a quick 13 mile ride yesterday & a trip to the gym. On the way home my gym buddy & I sneaked in a pint of Guiness. Well its good for you right? I had had a big day working out + I felt a bit better about the fact that the weather was in the mid 70's + if I stll lived in the UK I'd be struggling with the winter / weather & darkness (short days ) of this time of year. One has to be thankful for all of one's blessings.. & As we all want to feel sorry for ourselves at some time or other there's always someone else out there that is worse off..

HELLO Living-by-the-Beach, well 70's nice and warm.

Yes we all need to blessed with who we are and are own values and daily successes, ttfn, Karen
