Has anyone else noticed that their er bowel habits have increased in frequency and looseness on lchf?? Excuse the not so appetising topic.
Have been tested for coeliac already so it's not that!

bellabella, I did a quick search and here's what I learned can cause loose stools...

- increase in fat intake
- citrus fruits (due to fiber content)
- sorbitol, common in sugar-free gum, also found in some sweetners
- increase in grains or vegetables (due to fiber content)
- beans (due to indigestible sugars, always soak dry beans for a minimum of 4 hours then pour off water)
- cabbage, broccoli, and other cruciferous vegetables, due to same indigestible sugars, also due to fiber content)
- fructose
- dairy, if lactose intolerant - (an over the counter enzyme is available for those who lack the enzyme needed to digest lactose)

I intermittently have problems with many of the foods on this list, but it's usually when I eat more of the food than is typical for me in a day or over a period of days. With the exception of a few foods, eggs come to mind, I try to eat a variety of foods throughout the week. I also try to eat fat, protein, and "LCHF approved carbs" at each meal, but I'm only a week into this. It's possible I may begin having problems in time.

One suggestion would be to daily journal foods eaten and symptoms as they occur to figure this out.

I'm hoping others will comment too.

I can't eat too many nuts without effect - and I once ate some smoked almonds which did me no good at all!! Before I changed to LCHF I ate a shed load of brown rice and pasta, and loaf upon loaf of wholemeal bread, plus lots of pulses and beans. They all kept me loose and little did I know, drove up my blood sugar while I was at it!

Mine were the opposite when I started lchf - a little bit of constipation. They seem to be better now but I also can't eat too many nuts without effect!!

If you were eating a lot of wholemeal or brown bread previously it could be probably cos of the reduction in fibre try adding an alt source to your diet and see what happens, wouldn't a lot of the high fat just make the throne visits a little more special anyway? Hmmm...reminds me i must repair the pebble dashing on the back of the house.
