i have been type 1 for 42 years, why is it people still don't understand type 1 diabetics
 
I have only been diagnosed type 1 since last October at the age of 39 and already I am sick of trying to explain it to people. More education and awareness needed. TV adverts, maybe diabetes UK could invest some money on TV advertising for awareness?
 
Some type 1's don't understand type 2 diabetes either, and vice versa.

Oh and welcome to the forum from a type 2. :)

Welcome to the forum Seajay :)

TBH you never really understand a medical condition until you've lived with it.
