5.0 this morning - much better than yesterday's 5.9 and the signs are that I am in ketosis thanks to my low cal and low carb diet because yesterday and this morning I had/have no hunger pangs and no lack of energy. skipped breakfast and only had a 100 calorie lunch so managed to do 500 calories for the day. If I keep this up I may be able to re-coup some of the weight loss I didn't achieve last week...
Be careful to eat enough.... 500 calories is far too low for man (or even petite woman for that matter), your body goes into starvation mode and makes it harder for you to lose weight as its doing its utmost to make best use of what you have and conserve energy where it can. Its very difficult to get the range of vitamins and minerals etc that your body needs in so few calories

Don't forget I'm on a temporary Newcastle style diet very low energy diet. I actually feel brilliant but not expecting it to last and will take appropriate action if necessary. Last night I had fried beef steak with a mushroom cream sauce plus lots of greens and tonight it's a pork belly stir fry with mushrooms, carrots and green beans and I had an avocado and kale smoothie for lunch. I am taking a multivitamin supplement and extra strength fish oil. But thanks for the concern.

6.7 this morning which I'll take as out at pub quiz last night so few chips and no exercise. Also @WeeFergus I'm having the same problems with urticaria ( hoping it's not going to end up chronic but I'm not holding my breath as it's been weeks so far) and just the stress from that can put your levels up a notch. I wake up worrying whether today will be a bad day which doesn't help, I'm sure. Hope you get some relief soon x

It's unlikely that I'll get complete relief soon as I've had pressure urticaria for about 10 years and take 4 antihistamines a day. I certainly hope you lose yours sooner than I have.

Oh dear. I hope mine doesn't hang round. Had something similar as a kid and it lasted a few months. No idea what triggered mine though heat and exercise seem to make it worse and sitting in draughts. The Certriziine helps but not complete eradication. You have my sympathy as it's soul destroying some days. X

Ah, I must have missed that. Glad you are being careful :). Wish you success with it

Good morning all,

A hefty 6.0 at bedtime
A hefty 6.0 this morning

Not sure why as I only had a salad for tea and was 5.6 after 2 hours. Off to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve this morning, and what a beautiful morning it is.
...and what a beautiful day you had for it... :)

7.5 this morning.

So where did that come from? Well, it could be because I had a distrubed night (chronic urticaria).

Was it because I was using a new meter? I had ordered new strips for my SD Codefree but they hadn't arrived (I had not actually made the payment!) so yesterday I went down to the local chemist but could only buy a new meter (Accu-Check mobile). I used it a few times last night and it seemed OK - although I actually prefer my SD Codefree one as getting the blood onto the strip is easier and each Accu-Check test costs approx. 50 pence.

The first test I took this morning was 8.0 but a second one immediately after was 7.0 so I've recorded 7.5. I'll take another test before I eat later this morning and see if I can get back down to the 6's I have recently had.
I use the Mobile - have done since Christmas... I wondered if it was recording a little higher than the Active.... but really it's the difference in the numbers that's important - not so much the actual numbers... within reason that is... I think it was BlueTit that told us that... Try not to worry too much... Do you suffer a lot from urticaria - it's miserable? Could it be linked to a food you eat that is high in histamines? There's quite a lot of stuff on the net about it... Hope you sleep a bit better tonight...

Turns out i have a uti and just had my meds doubled.
Welcome Lucylockets... :) I think you'll have to explain that one to some of us... or is it just me?

Mid afternoon fasting level today as I was zonked out :wideyed: till then : 6.4
(My sleeping times have become quite erratic since I retired...)
