Worried about my liver on LCHF

I have been having some digestive issues of late and I am wondering if my liver is struggling as a result of LCHF. Has anyone any advice to offer on this please? Since I am worried that my liver is struggling, I have reduced the amount of fat I have been eating and now I am losing weight quicker than I would like because obviously I am not getting enough calories. Help!

Just to add, my recent liver function was fine but I just suspect my liver is taking a pounding at the moment. Any advice on how to be kind to your liver and avoid problems while on LCHF would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I AM not a doctor but if anything your liver will be thanking you for reducing the intake of carbs but not thanking you for reducing fat. I have read that people have died from excessive intake of carbs from cirrhosis of the liver who didn't drink alcohol. Speak to your doctor.

Thank you both, I feel a bit more reassured now. I forgot to mention, I am also worrying about the effect on my gallbladder too - any thoughts on that please? You may have guessed I am going through a bit of a worry phase at the moment! Thanks for your help.

And thank you @Indy51 , the link you posted has a great food list, very useful ;)

All of my tests improved dramatically on Low Carb, with enough fat to stop the hunger. My lipids look a bit "iffy", but when the various calculations are done, they're fine. All markers, including liver improved.

Thanks, but any thoughts on the gallbladder too?

I have never had gallbladder issues, and not had any tests or scans to give any further insight, so couldn't comment. All I can say is I am extremely fit and well, with bloods always in the non-diabetic ranges; both when I finger prick test and lab tests. Those results are in my signature.

I recall @Patricia21 had some issues a while ago, but to be honest, it isn't something I have noticed many postings on, in the 16-17 months I have been reading here.

Only you can decide how you proceed. A percentage of people have always issues, whether it's LCHF, Healthy Plate, Newcastle Diet, 5:2 or even just "being good". Such is the variance and personal nature of each of our physical make ups and metabolisms. But, one thing diabetes made me do was to "pick my horse", "back it", and "ride hard to the finish line". If I have problems later, I will have to accept responsibility for my actions.

I always thing it is better to regret an action taken than the effect of apathy and inaction.

Good luck which ever route you choose.

I've also just had a look on the diet doctor site and it says LCHF is fine for gallstones/gallbladder.

I think some amount of digestive upset is likely in any radical dietary change. You could always take digestive enzymes while you make the adjustment - lipase should help with the additional fat.
