LCHF mystery, help!

The easiest way is to use google. Type in the food, e.g. Rump Steak and Nutrition Information

It will usually present you with a nutritional information page either from something like myfitnesspal, or if it is a brand, from the brand page.

Just a quick update. I have STILL not lost any weight. I have tried the suggestions on the thread so far (upped the fat, tried coconut oil, increased my calories etc.) and nada. I am on fewer than 20g carbs a day and I aim for about 1,400 calories a day (my BMR is 1,900).

On the plus side... I haven't gained any weight and I have actually stopped taking my novorapid - I don't seem to need it, my basal keeps me on an even keel (8U determir in the late morning, 6U before bed).

It's just a little frustrating as I am being soooooooooo good and I can't see any results. It's been almost three months now :(

What is your weight? Have you tried reducing your total daily calories? Did you try increasing your exercise like @Brunneria suggested?

I am 65kg at the moment. Yes, I have increased my exercise - I now jog for 45 minutes to an hour three times a week and I still continue to weight train for 45 minutes at least twice a week.

I'm not sure about cutting the protein as then I'm not left with just fat to eat!

I am seeing my HCP in a few weeks and I have also made an appointment to see the dietician at the same time, I shall see what they have to say!

the dietitian will say eat 'healthy plate'
it's up to you, you will be eating the RDA of protein and on low carb higher fat , most energy comes from fat

Jack412 - I will revisit my proportions then, can't hurt afterall! :)

Ah yes! BMI would be more helpful for you than just the weight! :P My BMI is 24.8 so yes, I acknowledge I am in the "healthy" range but, right on the border! I would hate to start creeping up and would just prefer to be in the middle of the healthy range. My body might be at a level it's happy with, but I'm not! :P

Still, just had a lovely jog around Hyde Park and am feeling fit and strong, so, it's not all bad. Just I read about so many LCHF weight loss success stories on here and would like one of my own!

I think Jack is right. Try dropping some of the daily calories, and drop protein rather than fat. He's only suggesting to drop down to the RDA so it's nothing drastic.

I don't know how much protein you're eating, but you need at least 1 g of protein pr kg body weight, if you're trying to build muscle.

when you are getting near your target, the weight loss comes off in ounces a month and it's quite possible that your body has found a weight it likes.
just my opinion....but on 20g carbs, it may be too much protein, that can knock you out of ketosis fat burning..too much fat won't stop you losing weight

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I'm not a fan of BMI since very many "ample" people are extremely fit and agile. If you only weight 65kg and you enjoyed a jog round Hyde Park and feel fit and strong, maybe you're just the right size for you.
"I am now ignoring the scales and just going by how I feel/look in the mirror - feeling good about myself, looking decent," you said. Not enough?

...
I hope someone can help me with my mystery!
I am currently on a low carb diet and have been since the beginning of January. Apart from a couple of "cheat" days, I have stuck to it religiously - but have lost a grand total of 1kg.... in a month. Below is a typical day for me in terms of BG reading, insulin and food - what am I doing wrong?!
.

Cut out the cheat days maybe? You're possibly not helping your body adapt to fat burning if you let it scoff more carbs again.

This is all very interesting.... I am not weightlifting for the purpose of building muscle, I am just aiming to be toned.

I shall keep a record of carb/protein/fat then and will adjust appropriately - thanks for the suggestions!

Yes @DeejayR, I know... I am obsessing about a number on the scales which is counterproductive... I think I look well, I am a size 8 or 10 (depending on the shop!) .... can I blame the media for my poor attitude?

muscle weighs more than fat..you may be at your bodies Ideal build/weight, remmeber these are just averages and if you are toned (female for muscled}, you would have an above average weight, but not fat...get your gym to do a caliper love handles measure to see your body fat %

Yes it's a self image thing, some are the a good weight but the eye tells them different, others may be wishing they had your figure.

Lol yes the media has a lot of influence on self image.
& as others have said it just maybe cutting protein a little & weight will start gowning down, protein does turn to glucose if too much is had. Fat is the best energy source to replace the carb energy cut.
& you mantra for today is. I feel good & look good. REPEAT.

So as to avoid clogging up the forum with my musings...

... as I mentioned above, because of the lack of weight loss, I have made an appointment to see the dietician when I go to the clinic in a couple of weeks. I don't now know if I should bother. She is lovely but has never been particularly helpful before. Well intentioned but a little useless.
