Hba1c of 39 not age I wishNot in my books I'm 39 and it's taken a lot of hard work as long as your not having too many hypo's. In my case clinic says a bit on the low side and GP says perfect for age weight and height so who do I go by ?

When diagnosed last June with 61 the nurse practitioner said he'd like around 50 ideally, when I commented why not just "get it lower" he looked at me like I was stupid! My dn is thrilled at my change and when I was edgy about possible raised hba1c non-meds she seemed to think a slight rise was fine- but I didn't, if my next is more than 39 I will requesting meds again as I DO NOT want diabetic levels, even controlled ones! Wish they could see that point!Well done Claire
Targets for HbA1c are as follows:
- For people without diabetes, the range is 20-41 mmol/mol
(4-5.9%)- For people with diabetes, an HbA1c level of 48 mmol/mol
(6.5%) is considered good control, although some people may prefer their numbers to be closer to that of non-diabetics
My post yesterday about an easter indulgence of a hot cross bun.... I had it with proper butter, I was 5.8 pre and I hr was 7.8 2 hrs 7.7 so I didn't spike more than the two points recommended- but I wasn't actually drooling and felt like I could have actually left it, that was my first bread since last June so clearly haven't missed it!!Its not easy is it? I am currently fighting the urge for white toast and butter
You certainly need to make sure you eat enough, it's hard after years of low cal/fat being the way to go to lose weight and feeling hungry. You should find with lchf you can easily fill up without going overboard portion wise thoughThanks Mike i am worried that im not eating enough, hence the dizziness. So far I have done no excerise due to RA but i am starting RA resistance training next week and dont want to end up falling over
I went on a desmond course they said low fat, sugar and carb.
Is this advice wrong
Exactly mike.....We (the ones dealing with it!) Know low fat means high sugar yet THEY preach to us about it!! Crazy!!IMO that would not work for me at all. The reverse is what many subscribe to. ..... and sugars? No way
Most of us that have been on the courses shock them with our ways, yet they applaud our results!! The "nice" guidelines they follow need seriously up - dating. Even in my short time since diagnosis I can sense my dn views opening up more regards low carb higher fat and if it works for you as an individual then carry on, as apposed to back in june when I was told to have a fist full of carbs every meal and low fat!!I went on a desmond course they said low fat, sugar and carb. I basically eat lean meat and salad and the odd yoghurt i am always hungry. Is this advice wrong
