Hello all took my daughter to the gp 2 weeks ago as i had concerns that she was presenting with symptoms of diabetes discussed with gp who said doesnt sound like diabetes however i insisted on a blood sugar test and urine test to be done appointment was made for blood test which was 8.30 in morning not a fasting test either my daughter had her breakfast at 7.30am either a bowl of cereal and fruit of toast and fruit and cup of tea

anyway phoned for results to be told all test were normal and the blood sugar reading was 3.1 ? Now i know that a normal reading should be between 4-8 i have made another appiontment to see another doctor on the 20th as i dont have confidence in the one i saw should i be concerned with this level or is it exceptable

Hi & Welcome to the forum @bunchesfairy I am not a Doctor, non of us are here and therefore cannot give a diagnosis.

All you have to do is ask if it was an 'HbA1c Test', which is the average of blood sugars over the last 2/3 months. You are allowed to have a 'Print Out' of that.

Don't really know, but I suspect you were given a 31 not 3.1.

A 31 on the HbA1c test is perfectly normal. A 3.1 is very low blood sugars which is a different measurement in mmol/L and therefore is probably wrong.

You need to get your print out that will tell you exactly what the result was.
