Don't you feel very hungry at those numbers I feel ill at anything under 4 and shaky on low 4's

Dont feel shaky, hungry or ill. When I started out I found it very difficult to adjust to normal portion sizes. Over time you get used to it and actually, feel much better and more energetic. Others used to report this and to be honest I had difficulty believing them, but its true.
If I do feel a bit hungry before my meal time I just drink black coffee without sweetener and that solves the problem.

Don't know what a Malbec is but enjoy anyway and after 26mile you'll have deserved a treat... Don't forget to take your kit and some lucozade or something just in case you go hypo with the running
Fully loaded and ready for dispatch. Hoping to stay clear of lucozade et al but will keep an eye on bloods.20150409_133415.jpg

Are you reporting your carbohydrates with or without fibre content.?

Stay strong for the "duration", the ND is surely a stern test for even the stoutest of folks.
Thanks for the encouragement. Having support from Forum members means a lot, and is a bulwark against temptation, especially when I consider the Siren call of the Norwegian Gjetost, in the 'fridge, so far untouched.
My carbohydrates at the moment are included in the Optifast Meal Replacement sachets, plus the two cups of non-starchy salad vegetables and herbs which are mostly straight from the garden, fibre would be included. Is there much reason to separate fibre/CHO? Is the insulin response influenced by the fibre very much? I have many gaps in my understanding.

A bit befuddled today...:(

Woke just before six am, not feeling too good and so stiff I could hardly move - and it's showing, tested: 7.2

went back to sleep , woke up and tested again at 11.30: 7.7, and still high later pre-meal: 8.0 ...

Robbity

I understand that the insulin just reacts to the presence of glucose. The fibre is is inert as it is not broken down into glucose but just "passes through". With the very small amounts your are eating, the difference in the count wont be large in any event.

We all have gaps, all the way to the top of the pyramid it seems, so many brilliant researchers working on the subject and still so many unaswered questions.

6.2 this morning. Went to hospital today for pre op assessment. Got so worked up. I'm terrified of general anaesthetic next week. I'm such a wimp compared to the many brave folk on here.

Don't worry you'll be for fine its just like drifting off and having a real good sleep. I am sure you will have no problem but make sure you take any medication and keep an eye on your blood sugar.:)

Thanks loulou. I'm just frightened of not waking up. I know you have health problems yet you are so upbeat. You inspire me. Thanks for replying.

Well I had a superb mango, perfectly ripe, brought from Thailand for lunch and I didn't dare measure my BG after that but now just before supper - 5.2, which is a relief! Problem is that there are three more mangoes left!

Late reporting in this morning was

5.9
I'm firmly back in the fives.

You will be fine if you feel sick or anything let the nurses know. Can I be cheeky and ask what are you going in for? I have been under anaesthetic for 7 hours when I shattered my leg falling of a trampoline and woke up OK

It's not a . Major op. It's just to put right some woman trouble -bleeding after menopause.
