About 7 years ago I caught some form of infection, and was layed up for about 3 months, I was given various antibiotics, regular blood tests where taken which showed an infection, but could not diagnose which type, eventually I recovered, but remained weak, when I reported the problems I was having which included Dizziness, Thirst, Craving for sweet things, Muscle achhes, Migraines, my doctors responce was it will take time for my body to return to normal.
I kept having time off work, and one day Passed out at home (collapse or Stroke - not quite sure) My partner discovered me 4 hours later, when I came around I had dificulty communicating, I had boweled and urinated in my clothes, and had little feeling in my left side, my partner calloed for an ambulance, their responce was they would charge to collect a drunk - I WAS NOT DRUNK - My partner changed my clothes and got me to Hospital, after some time i was able to communicate, blood tests showed High Potassium, An Infection, and very high sugar and other results that pointed to a stroke & Diabetes, I was given insulin & medication for the potassium, I again passed out as my sugar went exeptionally low after 4 hours I was stable and discharged to return for further investigation,
Furter investgation showed I had suffered a mild stroke, leaving me with Polyneuropathy, weakness on my left side and a feeling of walking on a listing ship when i am try to walk any distance, plus a loss of childhood memories, and short term memory, at the time I weighed 16 stone, same as when I was 19 Years old, (The result of Steroid Treatment after A road traffic accident) the initial final diagnosis was Diabetes due to my weight, after further investigation the diagnosis was Diabetes due to an infection which effected my panchreas, If you think your diagnosis of the cause of your diagnosis is incorrect press for a further investigation as this may effect your treatment, (I have had my left knee replaced as a result of the RTA when 18 ), Im now left disabled and unable to work, I have Arthritis, and need 2 new hips and a shoulder replacement, and finally Im on insulin 120 units of Levemir per day & 100 units of Novorapid per day.
