Blood sugars getting higher why?

Hi I have been type 2 diabetic since 2002. My sugars were always within acceptable levels and some times even low. This past 3 months they have gone very high. Today my fasting blood level was 27.5
I am on Diamicron & Onglyza. I watch what I eat and take long walks with the dog.
I do not want to go on Insulin so what else can I try.
Please if any one can help I would really appreciate it.

no one 'wants' to go on insulin, but sometimes there is no choice :(
I would listen to your DR..if your diet hasn't changed in the last 3 months, It may mean that your pancreas isn't putting out enough insulin.
it doesn't sound like it but, if you are carrying a few extra stone, you could try cutting carbs

This gives a simple overview to how it works
For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. They don’t give up easy and it’s biochemical

a long page and a few good video’s

Thanks that is very helpful. I have made an appointment to see my GP so I guess I will have to wait and see what he says.
I have had a lot of stress this past year, I lost my husband and then my father. I am hoping that as I become less stressed my sugars will go down.

I hope your doctor can help you get back to where you were. And I hope you have a better year.

Found myself similar - was tiny (frame) very active, eating less no or less carbs too .
Blood sugars levels were going up and up and up .
I was in the late teen numbers a 'lot' and 'often' .
So it wasn't food related only .
Felt a bit like a failure for all I tried to do through activity and foods .

Had no choice - but to go onto insulin - now I love the stuff .
It grabs my higher blood sugars and brings them down to a much safer and steadier level .
I read " think like a pancreas " and it helped me a lot .
Initially I read up on insulin therapy to prepare me .

My DSN was great with me looking back she went along with
all and everything that I wanted or needed to do .
Started off with Levemir insulin then onto Porcine insulin .
Now am back onto Levemir insulin and love its performance with myself .
The onset time was my issue with the porcine insulin .
Levemir acts faster with me .

Stress can push the blood sugar levels upwards .
Please mention about all of the past year to your GP .

My BS seem to be rising too ! I`m scared - I have a twin sister who has been a Type 1 since she was 4 and she has had loads of problems, including a lower leg amputation. Due for my annual BS test in June so I`m sure my DN will suggest insulin ! How are you with insulin ? Any weight gain ?
I`m not overweight and don`t want to be either !

I am loads better for the insulin .
On levemir I don't fat store as did do a bit on the porcine .
Less tummy area but faster and safer onset time for me .

In case you do have to start an insulin therapy regime .
Try reading up on it pre-appointment ?
