Last week was an interesting one. I had my first appointment with the dietician at the hospital which I had been debating whether to attend or not as I have clearly not been following the dietary advice of eating 'brown' carbs with every meal and following the LCHF diet as advocated by the good people on this forum :0) I took a very detailed food diary for the previous 3 days with me. The dietician I saw was a student and very nice. She was interested in my carb free diet though she was keen for me to cut down on the cheese and replace whole milk with skimmed. However the qualified dietician who was also in the room told me that I had to eat carbs otherwise my brain wouldn't function and that all fruit, including bananas and grapes, were ok to eat. The day after this I went for my first Hba1c test since diagnosis and it has dropped from 67mmol to 45 with a BG reading of 4.9%. I will be happy to share this with them at my follow up appointment in July! Whilst I'm pleased with these results I know there is a way to go and I was a bit disappointed not to have lost more than 3kg in 2 months. Am thinking that I need to cut down on portion size (although it is mainly veg!) and up the exercise.
Anyway, thanks to all those on this forum who offer such great help and support. My first 4 months of being diabetic have been revolutionary and I'm now feeling far healthier than I have been for years!
