Hypo awareness

Hi himtoo,
I'm currently on a waiting list for a combined CGM and pump. Thanks for your advice and yes my hba1c has been in the desired range. However, I did have a reading of 1.9 a few weeks ago and only felt this slightly. This was very dangerous as I was walking around school unaware of how low my BS was. I also don't feel my hypers either. Today is a good example because I ahd two hypers in school and did not feel them.
Will keep everyone updated on how everything is going. Thanks for all the advice.

I think you'll do much better with a pump and CGM. If you could flatten out your blood sugars, you would probably feel the deviations more. It sounds like you average out well, but your blood sugar is never actually normal for very long.

Hi again.

Have you ever had any hypo awareness..?

... & have you ever fainted/lost consciousness resulting in needing assistance treating the low..?

Not really. I only feel something slightly when its very low eg 2.2
Is what you need to do is say to your say called team , I would like to be able to drive a car when I reach 17 I wont have a chance unless you sort the problem now. See what they say.

UPDATE: hi guys I have an update on hypo awareness.
My pump has been ordered and has CGM with it so hopefully it will help me with hypos.

That is fantastic news well done.
May I suggest you or your parents order the book pumping insulin by John Walsh (Amazon) this will be your pumpers Bible and worth it's weight in gold.
I'm not to sure if the CGM sensors or transmitter will be provided with your pump, hopefully they will but if not dig deep into pocket.
Which pump are you having?

I'm getting the medtronic minimed 640g and it does have CGM which is the main reason i got it
Yes the Medtronic as does the Vibe have CGM capability, this doesn't mean you will be given the sensors or transmitter to make the CGM work. So don't be to surprised if you find you will have to fund them. Hopefully not though. I have the Animas Vibe pump and have to buy my own sensors and transmitter for it.
