Does anyone else experience or know the cause of chest pains, it feels like somebody is pressing on my chest where my heart is alot of the time, it's not so much painful just very uncomfortable, thanks.

Think maybe you need to get yourself checked out pronto. It could be nothing - anxiety or excessive exercise, but its best to see someone.

Thanks I will I was just wondering if any other type 1s have had this due to high glucose

I would see a GP urgently, or better A&E or a walk in center if its bad. Chest pains are better not to be avoided.

Don't ignore chest pains ... Get someone to take you to A & E ..or phone Tripple 9 for an ambulance.. if your still getting the pain you can take half an aspirin as you go to hospital. If the pain has stopped and you feel ok now, then make an appointment to see your Dr as soon as possible.

As you are 18 it's most likely to be anxiety or indigestion, but don't take any risks I guess. Chest pains are not really a known side effect of anything except for DKA. Do you have really high blood sugar? Do you know the other symptoms of DKA? Difficulty breathing, tired, nausea. Do a ketone test.

There is a higher risk of heart disease amongst diabetics but at 18 years old it's very unlikely.

Hi @Spiker ..yes he is young ..but I had my heart problems at an early age. So don't take chances with chest pains

I had chest pains with good bg control, mine turned out to be inflammation in my chest muscles but they initially thought it was angina after being diagnosed with diabetes for 30 years at the time, never ignore chest pains and always best to get checked out just to be safe.

I had chest pain with my pneumonia .
Was quite worried actually .

Turned out I had slightly cracked a left rib with all
my coughing from the pneumonial infection .

Best you get your chest pains checked out @DannyBygrave

I have Type 1 Diabetes and I also get chest pains when my blood glucose is high, I put it down to heartburn.
It goes away when my blood sugar goes down. Thought this was normal.

Thanks for the advice everyone I have my yearly check up at the hospital next week anyway so will bring it up then, it's not really a 'pain' as such it's more like a feeling of somebody pushing on my chest where my heart is, so is more uncomfortable than painful.

I'm having a lot of pains all over my body but what you described is exactly what I have most days as though someone is sitting on my chest. Iv told my doctor about it and he wasn't bothered at all.. In fact he didn't even comment on it. But I also have really low blood pressure to the point now where whenever I stand up I feel like I'm about to faint. The chest pain is horrible though.. I sympathise with you but unfortunatly the three difrent doctors I have told just don't care

Yeah I had a check up today at the hospital and mentioned it and he wasn't fussed mentioned it could be anxiety but I'm not stressed much of the time, do you smoke? Could just be down to health tbh I'm not as healthy as I could be...

No other then these pains there is nothing stressing me so I don't believe that for one minute lol! No I don't smoke either so can't even 'blame' it on that... Well hopefully one of us gets an answer and can tell the other lol

Am i right in assuming this is a 'pressure' type of pain?

Heart burn is typically a sharp, burning, or 'stabby' type of pain that shots up the center of your chest, or sometimes in the area just under your heart... like where the top of your stomach would be.. Slightly to the left, just off center.

Its not uncommon for 18 year olds to feel anxiety, or stress - like legit stress, not just "oh i have so much school work, and a test coming up' like stress caused by actual worry. I have learned that even though you don't know that your stressed, you can be, so don't brush that off.

If it is happening ONLY when you HIGH sugars, its likely a form of heartburn, or potentially your body is being stressed, and this is the result. If it was a serious heart problem you would certainly catch glimpses of it while being active and when your heart rate is elevated.

Even if this is heartburn, its best to take care of it asap, if you let it continue as you get older it will get worse and more painful and your body will become more and more sensitive to food and drink :/

Heartburn is stomach acid slowly burning away your insides lol its no joke, try some antacids and see if it goes away next time.
