Hurrah - new batch of strips finally arrived this morning. My wife didn't finish off the last piece of bacon on her plate at 06:30 this morning so I had it! Therefore my test three and half hours later isn't technically a fasting one but for the record it was 5.8.

Snap I was 5.3 this morning. Was naughty last night and had 2 pieces of KFC chicken with sweet corn before Girls Brigade:rolleyes:
I bet you enjoyed that even more when you saw your fasting reading this morning... :)

Wow! Scary... :) Looks like your hard work is paying off though... bravo... :)
Quite enjoying myself really - never eaten so much cheese and so many packets of ham :)

and I bet I could out eat Cool Hand Luke on boiled eggs now too!

Keeping it simple Sherlock !

Ham and cheese are fairly high in protein, which can also cause BG to rise.

No sign of my replacement strips today - the supplier says they were shipped on Monday; hopefully they will arrive tomorrow. I didn't bother with 1st class post because last time they arrived the next day with 2nd class. Oh well!
what type and who from? my Bayer Next can take a long time from Az, so I re-order when I start a new batch.

SD Codefree from Home Health in Watford. They are normally very good. Hint; don't buy from them on eBay as they charge more to cover their eBay fees so order direct from their website.

Lack of a laptop has really hindered the diligent recording of my levels.

Have noticed that I am snacking more in the last few days. Things I wasn't touching in the last 4 months have been creeping back in.

Fri 15/5 - 3.8. Hard track session with speed intervals the evening before.
Thurs 14/5 - 4.1 - Three miles the evening before
Wed 13/5 - 4.5 - Four miles the evening before
Tues 12/5 - 5.3
Mon 11/5 - 4.9
Sun 10/5 - 3.8 - Three miles the day before

Early 6am fasting test today 6.5, after going right down to 5.9 before supper. So obviously beat my $*&**! liver to it for a change! :D

From your list I would think carefully about carrots, beetroot, bananas, pears and apples. And I can only speak for myself but the lasted time I tested after eating any quantity of pasta, rice, bread or potatoes - anything starchy - I wasn't happy with the impact on my BG levels. I would strongly advise you test after meals to find out what foods you should and should not be eating. Of course my concerns might be misguided and you'll be fine - but the message is really, are you sure these foods are OK?
Well, here goes! I did test before and then 2 hours after dinner last night and had some pasta to see what it did. Wow! It did go high, so won't be doing that again. I'll keep a check on my vegs and fruit, too, so thanks for your concern. ☺
