Hi, has anybody come across a smell in their urine? I have noticed that my urine is very smelly in the morning and at some times during the day. It is a sickly smell that I just can't place. If anyone has had this and found out what causes it, I'd love to know. My levels are between 4.9 and 8mmol. I am 100% in target.

Could it simply be dehydration? Do you drink plenty of fluids? You could see if that makes a difference.

I know that some foods e.g. beetroot, cause a change in colour, but I don't know about smell.

Exactly what I thought!
I have spoken to my Dr Who has asked for a sample first thing Monday. She thinks I have some sort of bacteria due to my kidneys and diabetes. She is also testing for thrush. Last urine test showed white cells. I have no idea what white cells in urine is due to.

Do you get burning and stinging? If you have white cells and nitrites in your urine, defenitely you have urine infection. We as diabetics (female) are prone to have urine infection. You need to drink plenty of fluids. If you developed high temp, you should see your GP for some antibiotics.

I think because I've had so many problems with my kidneys and infections I sort of got used to it until this smell persisted. The sample I take in on Monday will tell me what's going on
