Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

@hankjam - thank you, much appreciated - and that you seem to have grasped the point I was making. I've felt very much better today and managed a good training session on the exercise bike earlier. The nurse that took my bloods earlier said I had to ease off too - they'd rather I was a bit high but stable, so back to a gentler reduction rate - I don't want an experience like yesterday again, thanks!
I tend to eat more carbs than many on here in that I still eat bread, some cereals, reheated pasta, potatoes etc and my BS levels are between 4.7 and 5.8 and I'm still, albeit slowly, losing weight. We are all individuals and, as diabetes control is for life not just for Christmas, we need to find a way of doing it which we feel comfortable with and that we can cope with in the long term.

I was discussing this with my wife just a little earlier - central London is actually smaller than you might think. My phone map app in walking mode indicated Euston Station to the northern end of the Strand is only about 1.3 miles on foot. Basically you walk in a straight line down Kingsway. I did it in 20 minutes each way (the phone suggested half an hour :)). I don't live in London, I was attending a business function and Euston Station is my usual route into London. I am now doing a lot more walking to meetings in the West End from Euston. I estimate that I am now walking over 20 miles a week more than I was before I was diagnosed and occasionally a lot more. One problem is that my shoes are now a tad loose because you lose fat off your feet as well.

Edit: I ought to add that last night's food wasn't low carb but I managed to avoid the bulk of the carby bits and had no pud. But I did have couple goes at the rather nice mashed potato and gravy...
Yeah central London is small I can walk from st Paul's to the bottom of the strand on a good day with a few stops

Without warning low battery, error message...cannot test........"I counted to ten, it did not help..."
Enjoy the holiday weekend everyone, I'll be working.....

I was actually wondering the other day how long the battery in the meter would last. I have spares in the house anyway as the codefree meter's battery is used in lots of other household devices. Have had my meter for about six months and probably done just over a hundred tests - not that many to be honest, although am testing more now than I used to.

Too much sleep? Were you catching up? I believe 7 - 8 hours sleep is optimal and more is as bad - if not worse - as less. :o

Sleep quality has a marked impact on life quality and also weight loss. Sleep is critical to the regulation of hormones.

6.1 mmol / L this morning.
3.6 mmol / L at bed time.

I suspect my liver dumped some glucagon at bed time to counter act the low.

I double checked the reading with a 3.7 mmol / L result. I was going to eat something to bring my blood glucose up a tad but, thought I'd try an experiment with my normal bed time food.

Result of which was I couldn't drift off for some time - probably due to liver dump.

Conclusion is next time eat something to slightly raise blood glucose level before consuming normal bed time food.

I definitely feel rough if I sleep in too long.

7.0 this morning.

@Lorraine deer Good luck. My husband had a hip replacement last year and was like a new man after recovery.

@Welshgooner - maybe you're like me and your body panics if you've not eaten for a while and dumps glucose. I'm always higher at weekends than weekdays after a longer sleep.

Morning campers
