When did I change from 'senior' to 'regular' on the forum? (I missed the event). Is it a nod to my decreasing age?:)

I started a thread on Tuesday "Out of Curiosity" asking if anyone had noticed the change in our forum status. It gathered pace and by the time we were on page 6, it was closed down by a Mod and we were told it would be re-opened when Admin and/or Giverny had had a chance to explain the changes.

Yesterday @Robinredbreast started another thread asking for an update to "Out of Curiosity", but unfortunately this has also been closed with the reason that it has been re-directed to Admin & Giverny.

At the moment, none of us are any the wiser as to why the forum status changes have been made and also why two new 'labels' have been brought in - "Lurker" and "Rookie".

Hope this explains things and I'm sorry that it's nothing to do with you looking any younger;)

Oh well, that's a pity! Never mind!
I sympathise with them needing time to think. Labels are always a cause of debate. I'm quite happy to be regular, though I haven't been so regular lately, too busy doing other stuff, .... but as long as it's nothing to do with our bowel movements .....
Long Live the Forum as it goes from strength to strength!

There's a lurker category now? Does that mean that if I don"t post for a while I'll be demoted to lurker status?

So funny!

I think with that helmet on, you're already a Lurker;);):D.................................

Why close a thread like that?...surely it would have been simpler to just tell us why things have changed....js
You'd have thought so, but the powers that be seem to prefer to keep us in the dark. or at least that's how it seems. I don't understand why, as it was a simple question.

A returning (ex) user started another thread too after being somewhat put off by now being designated a lurker, with more similar posts about the changes, so I had a good peevish gripe on there. I wonder how many more potential users will be put off too.

I'd much rather the issue with type 2s on medication being labelled as type 1 on diet only was fixed.

I'm surprised that people get so upset about this. It's usually simply a name tag linked to number of posts. While "lurker" is sometimes considered bad it's also widely used in internet forums. In this context it means your a member that hasn't posted a lot. If they've changed the settings or the software, then we all see our tags change. Things change in life. This really isn't one to get upset about.

June..!! Did you move this party into the kitchen? :p

I'm looking forward to the next instalment in that thread too.. For anyone not familiar with the plot. Here is a summary of what has happened so far...

The mods are just taking a break...

There is nothing that the Mods can do about this @Jaylee. Only Admin/Giverny can tell the members why this has happened.

I think this may be at least partly my fault.

I pointed out to @Giverny that someone posting to the forum showed up as New Member when they had been a member for over 5 years.
This is confusing because you tend to treat new posters a little more gently than seasoned members.

I suggested that there might be another category such as "occasional poster".

For my temerity I have been downgraded from Senior to Regular.
That'll teach me!

I feel that "regression" is great therapy.. Though, never to a time past the point the world "jaded." ;)

So how hard would it be for admin to show the members some courtesy and say something?
