For the last thirty years, research at universities and private labs has moved slow regarding achieving a cure for insulin-dependent diabetes. Many charitable foundations have in their reason d'etre essential funding to the broad spectrum of diabetic needs, including education, training, supplies, legal issues, and basic research. No doubt their activities have improved the lives of many diabetics through various types of gimmicks and gadgets getting to market, but most fail miserably to support research initiatives that are likely to deliver a near-term cure for diabetes. Most foundations' money goes to admin costs and reproducing predictable studies. Is the reason that we have no "The Cure" thread on this forum, that it is all so hopeless?
