I suppose I'm known a " Newbie" on this diabete's forum, and I would like to say how pleasant it is to know how many people are seemingly obtaining so much use full information regarding their T1 or T2 condition.I guess I should have attempted to introduce myself sooner after registering,so you will have to excuse the delay.I was diagnosed with T1 Diabete's Mellitus at the age of 19 years old,and I can truly understand the negative affect that it has.I can only confirm to all that read this that as serious as it may seem to those who have just been informed,I like to think that given my experiences over the many years I have been injecting insulin twice daily ,I myself have never had any negative issues. My advise to all is think posotively,to exercise when possible which will reduce your blood sugar.I have never drank alcohol ( Boring !!!),but have drunk nothing but TEA !!!!.My message to all is don't let diabete's get the best of you, whether your male, female, young or Old ( like me :-) ).I have found over the years that having a hobby or an interest is one of the best medicines around.I would like to think that whoever this condition affects , may hopefully feel a little better after reading this. I have had type 1 now for 46 years.:-)

What a fantastic story. I expect as a veteran of diabetes you will have lots of experiences and advice to share. The fact you have had diabetes for 46 years and still remain positive is inspirational, particularly for young members on the forum who may perceive their life is over or will invariably end prematurely. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to reading your comments as I'm sure will many others.

Thank you for your wonderful reply and comments. Its so good to see that all of those of us who unfortunately have to share this condition have such a positive outlook. My main criteria is never to worry :(,but however, most of us do so because we are all unsure as to the outcome.I have found over the years that despite certain negative issues that affected me as a child have made me realise that there is more to life than we all appreciate. I can tell you stories that some may seem unbelievable ,but those factors have been an inspiration to me.Please contact me should you like to know more, but never give up.:).

Your great experiences and stories would definitely benefit others - especially young Type1s. Why not create a blog on this forum and allow others to read them ? I really enjoy the blogs that currently exist.

A blog would be brilliant! I would definately enjoy reading all 'keyboards' stories particularly the unbelievable ones! My favourite saying is 'you couldn't make it up'! If life has taught me one thing it's to expect the unexpected!

Agh... You're welcome, I can't wait to read all your 'unbelievable' stories! You had me at Hello! Seldom does a first post make such an impression on me.

I cannot thank all of you so much for your lovely comments with regards to my story. It's wonderful to know that there are so many of you out there who are committed to helping people of all ages with help, tips and advice regarding their condition.A positive approach by us all is what is needed.I have stories to tell that have not only given me inspiration, but also a positive approach to the future. .:).I think I'm some proof of that after 46 yrs on Insulin ,and I am still here to tell the tale.!!!!!.;)
