Consultant Appointment

Just a bit concerned about this afternoons appointment as I didn't really hit it off with him a couple of years ago , I don't know why I think it was the way he said he'll decide whether I should stay on a pump.

I know he'll plug handset in and get all info he needs but I'm still taking my nice charts and graphs that I go by. The wife's coming with me which is nice as she's not often off work.

I know I'm doing ok but they always go by their statistics and guidelines but I think I'm only human and I try my best, also I've never had a poor HbA1c on a pump.

Let you know later what he says.

Hi Mason, I'm pretty new here and don't know you, but I'm not new to diabetes. I'm Type 1 and know that if your results are reasonable and you are looking after yourself and also happy with where you are at, then that's more important I feel. Consultants can give you every reason under the sun to make things better and keep your control better etc etc. But its your diabetes and your life. You have to ultimately decide what is best for you.

Good luck and make the best decision for you.

Thanks maartymaart I've been, and consultant was totally different to last time all results were really good and Hb was 43 or 6.1 in old money just got to make 1 adjustment on basal between 4-5pm " chuffed to bits"

And for any newbies that has taken a lot of work so don't be put off of not getting it right straight away

Nice one well done you. :)

Excellent! And what a relief about the consultant.

I don't think I have ever seen the same person twice, but then I only have an annual appointment.

I've only been at this Clinic 4 years and only seen consultant 2 years ago and never got a follow up so saw the same one today my appointments are meant to be annually so something went wrong somewhere

What a result! Very, very well done.

It doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago you were really struggling with your new pump and getting things back into the place you like them to be. Well, all I can say is, you must have achieved that to have scores those numbers!

Again, very well done.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert yet on the insight but the visit from the Dsn to home really helped possibly being in my own surroundings and able to jot notes down in my terms has helped, it's a shame that theirs not the money out there to send out specialists or Dsn's to help not just diabetics but I suppose I'm saying like I mean more care in the community this would be so beneficial, well that's what I think
