Anyone else finding that the supermarkets have no celeriac at the moment??? Until I was diagnosed I never really paid much attention to it and only ever really had it at Xmas time, but now I want it and I haven't been able to find any for a few weeks!

I think that next spring I will have to buy in bulk and freeze portions of celeriac stuff to see me through the summer!

Asda still has it here . I tried freezing it but it was a disaster because it went all mushy but I hadn't blanched it first so I would try that and test it on a small amount first

My local Sainsburys has not had celeriac in for weeks which is a shame as I want to try making curly fries :woot:

Not much else has the starchy feel to it though, unless you' like to give some suggestions!?

Not a fan of cauliflower mash, it's just so watery and bleugh!
Steam it and keep a bite in it, mash it with a hand masher and not a blender - never have wet mash. If you don't have a steamer use a colander on top of a pan with a lid works just as well

I guess I will have to go and buy a steamer! (Don't think a plastic colander will work on a hot pan!)

A metal colander will be a lot cheaper than a steamer so you can try before you commit to an expensive steamer- I use one I steam a lot and don't have a steamer

We use the redundant pasta colander After mashing with the redundant potato masher and a tbsp olive oil, we stir in full fat Greek style cow's or sheep's milk yogurt with a tsp of horseradish sauce.

(Someone will no doubt be along soon to tell me that a microwave oven is Satan's tool. I don't care.)

LOL! :D:D But I do find it a bit hard to believe that hell runs on microwave power rather than fire power....

However.... I am still a fan of his tool too for a lot of my cooking.

I think my husband may actually have bought some from Tesco's recently, but I believe it to be it seasonal.
