I bought a couple of boxes of crackers which are low carb and yum but Im trying to lower levels and palm oil is one of the ingredients. There appears to be conflicting views as to cholesterol.I rreadon plenty of sites that it lowers LdL and raises hdl ,and then some saying its bad.Anybody know more? Would like definitive answer if there is one...They are called "gormet thins" with wheat and oats
Ingds: wheat flour 45% .wholegrain rye flour 19%,palm oil,wheat bran,oat flakes,,salt 2%,yeast ,vinegar.
Per slice:Fat 0.5 g
Of which saturates 0.2

Producers that use palm oil are using in because it is cheap, there is conflicting advice whether it helps or not

I can't answer your question about cholesterol, but am interested in how many carbs per slice in those crackers.

Hi Bluetit,3.5
Fibre 0.4
So that makes them just over 3 carbs I think.. which is so low:-)!

They are very large thin crispy crackers and yummy!
I wont eat them though until I know if they are ok cholesterol wise for me as my levels high!
Got them in supervalu shop here in Ireland!

Yes I am aware of that but thanks for reminder..

Thanks Avo,maybe not but I bought them because v low carb and I felt like trying something different:-)!

I deleted my post as I thought you had misunderstood your label reading. Read it again and you hadn't :)

How are you finding the new way of eating anyway? I found it amazing how quickly it became second nature.

Im finding it easier now but found it very tough at first as I missed a bit of fruit for a little sweetness etc.'.but I was never mad for bread which helps matters! And although Im a veggie so limited in that way I am not a fussy eater. My saving grace has been homemade lentil and veg soup.I eat a couple of bowls of homemade soup every day. That really helps as a filler upper therefore easier to have less carbs! Feel like im settling into things now but the diagnosis last week hit me very hard and I was quite depressed but thankfully today feeling more hopeful and positive! :-) Very helpful having come accross this forum ,thanks to everyone on here for sharing! :-)

Diagnosis is a shocker, but it's not the end of the world. It is just the start of a new, healthier one. I am sure you will do very well. Onwards and upwards :D

Yes onwards and upwards ,even if there are a few sidesteps and stops along the way;)!
