hi
Does anyone know why you aren't meant to consume alcohol while on gliclazide?
It just says 'may enhance effects of this medicine' in my Patient leaflet.

So, this is going to sound awful here, sorry.
If my BG was higher than I wanted it to be or needed it to be and I wanted it down more, would drinking alcohol do that?

Not for me, it does if say I have a glass or 2 if red with a meal, but my BG "catches up" the next day and I am a little higher for a couple of days, I do still have the occasional drink with a meal whilst being aware I will have to be extra strict with carbs the next day.
Having said all that it can cause hypos but it really isn't an ideal way to manage BS levels. Testing and working out what alcohol does to you is the key
