Friends don't steal your sight and feet. If it's comforting stodge you're after, there are low carb versions of old favourites. Chin up :)

Nice hot mug of unsweetened soy milk with spoonful of xylitol, two bits of 90% chocolate, spoonful of peanut butter, bowl of home made broccolli soup, all hit the spot when I fancy some comfort food.

Yes I hear ya @Jo123 re. the hot drink! Im deffo going to buy xylitol today .Made cocoa once or twice but not keen on artificial sweetener .Thanks :).

Yes you r right. I was just having a moment ..Its just a whole new way and sometimes its a pain..but u r right ..Who needs friends like that!

Sounds good :)! I will make a veggie version ! Do u eat a little rice with it or just the curry on its own?

Personally, I mainly just have the curry, but if one isn't going to be having the rice, one can have more of the tasty curry (and not plain, flavourless rice).

For meals like those, I've swapped using flat plates to using a bowl, or pasta dish with a decent lip on it, so that the curry doesn't run all over the plate, and it makes it easier to capture the delicious sauce that tends to be left on the plate at the end of the meal.

It works for me.

Yes I will definitely make a curry.Havent made one since diagnosis and I miss it . Never ate much rice so that shouldnt be quite so hard.Bowl is a good idea :-)!

Gem squash, baked with lashings of butter on top is just as good as baked spud but less stodge.

Try the cauliflower rice with your curry, lots of recipes for it in the recipe section and on the net, it's a great substitute

I don't eat any rice because I don't think a little spoonful is worth bothering with. As above, you can make a spiced mashed cauliflower substitute (recipe on here somewhere) basically with onion, garlic, turmeric, cumin, coriander, whatever complements the curry. And go with any green veg you like (broccoli?). And raita (cucumber, yoghurt, lemon, coriander) to cool it. Likewise a little tomato & mild onion salad. And/or a chapati substitute if you experiment with gram and/or almond flour to make a sort of pancake. Or phoopsies, they might go well (search on here).
As it happens last night we had a veggie curry (kerala masala) with cauli and butternut squash all in one so I just pigged out on that with a bit of raita while Mrs DeeJay had poppadoms & mango chutney (ugh, so sweet)

Or how about a cowboy pie? :woot:

Ratatouille in herby tomato sauce with added beans and chopped up veggie sausages topped with a load of cheesy cauliflower mash and extra grated cheese for luck. My idea of comfort food.

Take 2 squares of 85% Chocolate. Place two teaspoons of clotted cream on one of them. Place the other square on top.

Chocolate and Cream Sandwich

The cream takes away some of the chocolate bitterness.....yum yum yum
