Hi I am awaiting a hospital bed, have pneumonia....I have lung problems and have pneumonia at least once a year BUT this is the first time going into hospital since being diagnosed type two on insulin......would appreciate comments from people who have been in this situation... going in for fortnight worth of ivs.......

@ axle 222 Hello nice to chat to you, I am T2 on tablets and victoza, not got to the insulin yet!!!.
I had a a vaccination for pneumonia, from the gp, I went into hospital to have the gallbladder out in 2012, while in I got "hospital pneumonia", I had iv antibiotics and nebulisers for a week, apparently I looked terrible. I was ok, in that it did not effect on my T2, and as expected the readings were a bit higher than normal, but that is part of the condition and being ill.
Please don't worry too much, as they will be very helpful in helping you to manage your T2 and insulin as it is a condition they want to keep controlled. All here to help you, ttfn from Karen.

Hello axle 222, I hope your hospital stay goes well and your diabetes behaves it's self,,,,, and that the iv's do their job and your health improves. I was told by one nurse that 'hospital pneumonia was different to outside pneumonia' mmmm,,,,still thinking about that one!!. We all know that hospital food is rough at times, maybe this will help with your levels, you know, how things change when the food is rough,,,, chat with you again,,good luck,,,ttfn from Karen,
