You ever do something really stupid for no good reason? Yep?

I'm not a lover of yogurt really. Even prediabetes, ordinary low fat fruit ones weren't really my thing. Now, I've had diabetes for 5 years, and have good control, normal BG numbers. So what was going through my brain when I decided to have an Alpro Soya fruit yogurt this morning, Gawd only knows. Hour later, I don't feel so good so checked my bg. 7.9!!

Guess I'd forgotten just how useful "healthy" foods were for blood sugar levels . Lesson learnt.

It's also a useful reminder that Type 2's who manage to control their glucose levels and produce non-diabetic HbA1cs etc. are likely to return to previous diabetic levels if they return to eating too many carbs. :(

Yogurt always makes me feel unwell so I leave them out. The fruit in yours wouldn't help though, think plain Greek is best (urrgh) but 7.9 is still under the reccommended 8.5

It's a particularly interesting result as I have had non db levels for a couple of years, I don't test often but when I do, it's always well under 7, usually in the mid to high 5's.
I can eat fruit (within reason, two pieces max per day) so it must be the combo in the yogurt. Never mind, at least I won't miss it!;)

Many 'normal' people regularly see 7.9 or more.
Very surprised you feel ill at that, it's a good number.

Look at the ingredients, fruit yoghurts are often full of added sugar in addition to the fruits. It's normally better to choose a plain yoghurt and add your own fruit, but I don't know what actually goes into a soya yoghurt. Full fat Greek yoghurt is the generally best way to go...

7.9 isn't so dreadful, but it also depends on what your pre yoghurt level was.

It's not a good number for me, like I mentioned, my control is pretty tight although I'm not a very low carber and do eat small amounts of pasta, rice and potatoes. I have had a serious health issue in the not too distant past and am on medication, I have a feeling that this may make me more sensitive to my levels being higher than normal - that's why I tested this morning, I felt that "hot and itchy" feeling, plus the thumping heart which I don't get any other time.
Anyway, it was a one off - I can live without yogurt of any description really!:)

Yes, yes and yes, it is very easy to have one of those oopsy moments and I have had many over the last year. It does put things into perspective though with the little reminder that yes you are well controlled but too much of this or that and diabetes will be back knocking on your door.
