Vegetarian diet and type 1 diabetes

Tofu and tempeh also have a reasonable amount of protein. Possibly Seitan too but I'm not sure because I have coeliac disease and it isn't gluten free

    Breakfast ideas?

I've found 20gr of gluten free porridge with 20gr of cooked quinoa added towards the end of cooking the porridge, really levels the blood sugar. No more spikes. It looks as if there isn't much but when it all comes together there's plenty. It tastes just like porridge too so it's a win win

    Recommendations for bread

Likewise I've used the same bread and although my blood sugar increased significantly more, the bread freezes really well. I'd recommend staying with Gluten Free products only if diagnosed with coeliac disease.

    Recommendations for bread

I've just ordered for the first time, gluten free sourdough bread from, Good Grain Bakery, it's brown gluten free and I've just eaten my first slice following delivery today. My blood sugar has increased very slowly from 6.6 to 7.8 in approximately 30 minutes but I haven't yet had any extra...

I've been following low carb for quite a while and my blood sugar fluctuates much less. I usually manage to maintain it between 4.0 and 5.9 If I eat carb based foods my blood sugars become higher very quickly. I'd really recommend lchf if you can. Google Keto recipes there are loads of them...

So, the gym, finally going to use it

My left knee used to pop out when cycling. I've used the abducted and aductur (I think that's what it's called) at the gym for a long while and it's strengthened my upper leg muscles hugely. My knee no longer pops out and I struggle with lunges but can now squat. I'm a 50kg 1.5 metre female. I...

    Almond Flour

Amazon but ground almonds which you can usually buy cheaper. Ground Almonds are usually smaller quantities but can work out cheaper. I usually buy 1kg of Almond flour, which doesn't quite last one month, from Amazon.

    Spatone For Low Iron

Hi Sharrryn, It's some years since I've used Spatone, but I don't recall it altering my blood sugars when I did use it, which was regularly at that time. I guess they could have changed the ingredients since though. I'd recommend Spatone over iron tablets any day. Good luck with the blood sugars

5am Hypo Tired And Feeling Lonely.

Hi Mia I've had type1 almost 51yrs. You aren't alone. The ups and downs are a real pain. If you're in a position to obtain the freestyle Libre either by prescription or self funding (prescription is postcode lottery but that's a different issue) it really helps to see if there is any sort of...

Look at dietdoctor.com. They have several low / zero carb options. I've tried a couple so far and it will take some practice but give it a go.
