Spatone For Low Iron

Sharrryn

Well-Known Member
I'm iron deficient. Took spatone for the first time today just after lunch. Pre lunch sugar was fine and not a huge lunch. Three hours post lunch I was 17 !! Which never happens. Surely it's just a coincidence and diabetes is just being unpredictable. Has anyone else used spatone ? How did you find it worked for iron deficiency.
Thanks
Sharrryn.

Hi Sharrryn, It's some years since I've used Spatone, but I don't recall it altering my blood sugars when I did use it, which was
regularly at that time. I guess they could have changed the ingredients since though. I'd recommend Spatone over iron tablets any day. Good luck with the blood sugars

Did you watch "Trust Me I 'm A Doctor" last night, they had a section about iron. I didn't take much notice as I don't have an iron problem but I seem to remember them saying that it was difficult to absorb iron from supplements and recommended certain foods instead.

Thanks. Yes the tablets are very rough on the guts so I'm giving the liquid form a try. I'm guessing the high sugar was just a coincidence. No added ingredients noted in the packet. :)

Haven't seen that show. I'm just restricted with foods I can eat from the gastroparesis so I need a liquid form of iron. Fingers crossed it works.

My GP writes out a prescription for paediatric iron liquid for me due to my deficiency. I have slow colonic transit and therefore other iron supplements can cause me problems.

Can’t say I’ve heard of Spatone..
Spatone is quite commonly used in Australia. Doesn't work as quicky as the tablets I'm told. I need something though. Have always been iron deficient and the gastroparesis makes its worse now as I'm
not getting sufficient iron from food.
