Insulin seems to not be lowering blood glucose or just very little

Have you had your covid vaccinations? I've had both Pfizer jabs which increase the antibodies but as a result the body increases insulin resistance.

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

My Insulin resistance definitely went through the roof after my first Pfizer jab, I had to stop using the pump, and went back to MDI, Toujeo Solostar for basal and Novorapid for bolus. Basal was +25% of pump, and +30% for bolus. after about 4 weeks I could reduce the basal to 20%, likewise the...

    Hypostop Glucagen

I have never had Glucagon Injections prescribed. If I'm badly hypo I could not administer it myself, and my partner has a needle phobia and is so scared of them she has told me she couldn't bring herself to administer them herself to me if I have a bad hypo.

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

I had my 2nd Pfizer on Friday. My BS's thus far have had no spikes, in fact they seem to indicate a reduction in insulin, but it's early days yet so I will just keep a close eye on them. I have reduced my temporary daily from 40u to 36u.

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

My BS is a bit more stable now, thankfully. I've increased my Basal by 25%, to 40u injection per day. I do this in the mornings for obvious reasons. I split the injection into 4, so 10u each one, 1 to left arm, 1 to right arm, 1 to left thigh and 1 to right thigh. I do the same for any Bolus...

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

I've replaced BASAL from pump with Glargine which should last 24 hours, so matching my pump basal of 30.65u per day total with 2 x 20u per 12 hours as the initial 30u only had efficacy of 12 hours. But thanks for your advice.

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

9pm last night, my bg was 15, and rising. 2 injections of glargine 10u in each upper thigh plus 10u of novorapid. These had zero effect, apart from a very brief dip, then started rising again. Went to bed with a bg of 16.5, set alarm for 2am to ensure the amount of insulin injected wasn't going...

    Libre sensor errors

Call Abbott's helpline, tell them the issue, the serial number and the fault code, and they will send a free replacement, but retain the failed one because Abbott need it to run diagnostics and possibly reuse. It's annoying when they do go wrong, but certainly more reliable than the Dexcom G6

    Medtronic 780G, new pump user!

I self funded the Libra 1 for a couple of years but couldn't really afford to keep doing that. I then managed to get them again via the NHS. Due to IR I had a bad hypo during the night on 1st January, I might add that I had no alcohol at all that night. My partner couldn't bring me round...
