"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I did enjoy my orzo/mushroom/bean thingy, thanks. Lots left for tomorrow too. I would have preferred chickpeas or haricots/cannelinis, but butter beans was all that there was. Your chicken sounds great as well.

Breakfast was cottage cheese on Jacob's Crackers. Tea and water. 2nd meal is another experiment - mushrooms and onions fried quickly then butter beans from a tin, sweet corn from a tin and some chicken stock that I had in the fridge. Added a new pasta (new to me). It is a low carb wheat pasta...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

My grand daughter just informed me that her Mum takes the same tablet that I have been prescribed and she seems to manage it quite well. I'll have to have a word with her and see how she manages it.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I discovered that medication which appeared (to me) magically on my prescription list had been put there in 2024 - I just had never checked the list because I thought I knew what I should be having. When I asked about it the surgery told me that a diabetes nurse had prescribed it and the...

What a carry on! Glad that you got your Metformin and Linagliptin though, and that your husband got his prescription. That's one issue sorted at least. Cars, to my mind, are second only to communication technology in perverseness. Sadly, just as I can't get by without comms tech, a car is an...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

BG dropped to 4.3 at bed time last night so I had a biscuit to try to bring it up a bit. Seems to have worked because when I woke at 02.45 it was 4.9. Currently, after a couple of cups of tea and some pills, it is up to 8.3. Must have some breakfast and get read to go out for my leg bandaging...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Well ... Since I am 26 (which is what my inner self tells me), I guess 25 must be old. I must confess that about 70 years ago, I probably thought 25 was a bit over the hill. Odd how that changes as the years go by. Relativity ;) kicks in, I guess. At least, when I'm asked what my age is...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

If you are unhappy about anything to do with your diabetes, it can do no harm to ask the surgery for advice. They should be happy that you are trying to keep it under control. Different levels seem to be expected for different people. My diabetes nurse is unhappy if I let me BG go below 7. I...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I saw this news item this morning Ian and, like you, I wonder what we have done to our children. How did we get to this stage? Not only why are we not able to help them, but childhood should be a time when our kids are learning through play to live in, and contribute to, a stable society...

Still some of the baked lentil pasta dish left, so that will be breakfast. It is fine, but would have been better using a different pasta - something like orzo rather than elbows. 2nd meal will be salmon with spinach.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I went to bed about ten past midnight last night and woke at 02.30 with Libre yelling at me "Low! Low! Low!" I grabbed a can of espresso, as usual and decided to stay in bed but the hip wasn't having it, so I got up at 03.00. By then BG was 5.2. Bright and cool at the moment but rain...

I'm not confident poaching eggs either and have tried various different ways over the years. The only ones that are acceptable, ie not all watery and ragged, all amount to coddled eggs though. Nothing wrong with coddled eggs - they're just not the same thing.

At the end of our road there is a field that hasn't been grazed for years - probably about 1/4 acre - absolutely full of crocosmia. Wonderful to see.

My problem (one of them) is that I do have a garden - rather a big one plus 3 acres of croft. The croft is OK - our neighbour grazes his sheep on it since we can't manage that any more, but the garden is wild and getting wilder. I can't do it any more and even my pot plants aren't flourishing...
