What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

9.5 when I finally checked this morning and it has been climbing ever since. Last reading 14.9. Only had one cup of coffee and a glass of water. Overcast and breezy here. It's so dim, I still have the lights on in the kitchen. EDIT: That was earlier today and I seem to have forgotten to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just as well I did. Had a phone call this afternoon to say I can expect 3 guests at lunchtime tomorrow. Just realised I have no bread so will have to make soda bread tomorrow morning.

Actually, I'm not. Haven't had it in years and had decided never to have it again (just because of what the crab looks like) but way back then, it included the brown meat. I used 2 tins of crab meat - one was Kingfisher and the other was John West. I'm just about to add the fish to the soup...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Sounds good. Neil brought home some frozen prawns to go with the tinned crab. I chopped them into small pieces. The tinned crab I have is not very tasty. I was a bit disappointed, but the prawns are fairly tasty. Along with the vegetables they'll make a reasonable chowder. However, "could...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Just, finally, saved up enough to buy a headstone for my husband. So today I have ordered it. Very simple, straightforward and, to my mind, dignified. Have asked them to leave enough space at the bottom for me to be added on when the time comes. It's a beautiful spot - overlooking the Minch...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.1 at 03.20 today. Libre alarm went off while I was in the shower so I had to just let it bleep away. When I eventually got to it, BG was 8.3. Legs day today (for me - shopping day for Neil), but I'll need to muster enough energy to do some cooking - just in case visitors come tomorrow. If...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Breakfast: the remains of the sausage casserole (a very small portion) and coffee. 2nd meal yet to be decided because Neil has to go shopping while my legs are being bandaged, so I don't know what he'll bring home. I'll be making some soup for the next few days - lentil (I have plenty of...

Tap water is OK here on the Islands, but sometimes tastes a bit chemical (I suppose that's after they've added the chemical that disinfects the loch water). It tastes fine today, with chunks of cucumber in it. Doesn't taste as good as coffee though.

Breakfast: Sardines with RyVita. Not sure those fit in with a CKD diet, but seem fine on a lchf one. 2nd meal: cooking at the moment - sausage casserole with sweet potato, parsnip, carrot and leek. I shan't wait all that long before having it. I am hungry today. Maybe a cup of coffee will...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I agree that it doesn't need to be all water - I have always assumed that and have included tea, coffee, soups, stews when trying to reach the 2 litres I saw on a notice at the hospital - not that anyone has ever bothered to advise me, even though I was in hospital at the time having collapsed...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.1 at 03.35 today. A friend suggested that, instead of lemon, I should add cucumber to my jug of water since it is said to protect the kidneys more than lemon. I'm trying it today even though she also said that she had read that we should be drinking about 4 or 5 litres of water daily. I...

    Libre 2 and painful arms

I had Neil check my right arm and he tells me the inflammation has faded away although the scab is still there, so I guess it has more or less healed itself. It's the left arm causing most trouble at the moment. I'll give the rest a day or two and, if it doesn't improve, I'll try to get an...
