"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Thanks for the good wishes. Your trolley sounds really useful Just broke my fast with 3 plain crackers to try to ease the effect of the antibiotics. Just water so far. We'll have to see what Neil can manage to make for me later. Probably scrambled egg. He's good at that. Actually not a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thanks both for the good wishes. I will recover. Slightly disconcerted by the doctor deciding that we had to have a discussion about resuscitation in the event ... Not that there is any likelihood, of course ... Can we just decide on this now and get it out of the way? Do I want my ribs to be...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

No FBG today but it has been high all day. I got through on the 111 number and ended up in A&E. It seems I have a minor heart problem and pneumonia but there were no beds available so I have been sent home with an oxygen supply and antibiotics. Nurses to come in daily to check on me...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Not long back from A&E. BG has been high all day despite only having water since yesterday morning. Guess my liver is working overtime. It seems I have a slightly dodgy heart and pneumonia Why that is causing such pain in my shoulders, I have no idea. The doctor wanted to admit me to the...

Crackers and cheese for breakfast. It was early and I was hungry and that was the easiest thing available. Tea, water, pills, of course. 2nd meal will be a cheesey veggie dish of some sort. I'll have to get Neil to grate the cheese for me.

5.7 at 03.20 today. I'm really feeling the lack of sleep these days and keep on dozing off when I want to get on with things. I've decided to ask DIL to take over my ironing and sewing. I just can't do it any more. Not that I iron much, but some things just look awful if they are all...

I'm just so old fashioned. I don't have a Smart phone or a digital watch. Can't even get my old battery-analogue watch onto my swollen wrist either. I/we don't trust modern technology and don't use more than we find necessary/or can afford, come to that.

Yes, it is a sensor reading. I check every so often with a finger prick, but that's not so easy now that the hands are not working so well - even holding the Libre reader is proving difficult atm. I usually find that something is happening after the 15 minute wait. But then, I usually react...

Breakfast: little bits of bacon, fried off with some onion and mixed with some defrosted mashed potato, all fried to make a hash. Just because I felt like it. BG was lowish to start off with and dropped really low afterwards. Just managed to turn it round and it is 3.6 and, with any luck...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

3.7 at 04.00 today. 4.0 by the time I got to the kitchen. I only got to bed at 01.45 but straight to sleep so that was about 2 hours. Another hour in the chair after some painkillers. I wonder if this stupid sleeping pattern is making my BG pattern equally stupid. Left hand taken a step...

What a very pretty cat. Sad that she suffers from asthma, it must be very distressing for both her and you. Neil doesn’t have asthma, but does have difficulty and pain breathing when exposed to things like: cigarette smoke, mould, dust (not necessarily dust laying on surfaces, but watch out if...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.8 at 04.30 today. I had to get Neil to replace my Libre sensor yesterday - no way my hands could manage to get the packet open, or even apply it. Once again - what would I do without him? Decided my writing project needed an epilogue last night, so sat and wrote most of that. Really must...

Breakfast: Bacon and egg. A couple of Jacob's Crackers. Tea. 2nd meal: Corned beef salad. Going to try a new idea (Jamie Oliver) gravy mayonnaise. I have some gravy left over from the casserole so worth having a go. Plenty of tea and water through the day.

Oh Krystina, that must have been quite a whack to need 7 stitches. I've gone over many times on ice but happily have never done any serious damage, other than to my dignity, but the older I get, the more risky it becomes, so I try not to go onto ice at all now. Do be careful with yourself...
