I don't understand my blood results. Feel stupid.

Hi. I've just logged online with my surgery and seen this: Blood haematinic levels Serum vitamin B12 level 700 ng/L [197.0 - 771.0]; B12 levels are often lower in pregnancy and therefore need careful clinical interpretation in such scenarios. Suggest discuss with the consultant haematologist if...

    Type 2, diet and cholesterol

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me make sense of these results from recent blood tests. HBA1C came back as normal with a reading of 42. I take one x Metformin a day 500mg. I have a review and I think they will suggest ,me stopping it - just a gut feeling. Not sure how I would feel about...

    Ketones

Thanks for the reply. So it's not dka as my sugars are well controlled and with a hba1c of 42.... I've lost 2.5 stone and have put haf a stone back on so now 9.7 and 5.3 but consultant said yesterday he'd advise me to keep my weight at 9 stone to keep my hba1c down. He wasn't an endocrinologist...

    Ketones

Hi, Just been into hospital for an operation. My bloods were checked prior to operation and were 6.3 which was fine. Hba1c gone from 40 to 42 in 8 months but I did reduce from 2 metformin to 1 so no big worry according to consultant. My urine was checked.... Not a trace of sugar but apparently...

    Metformin

Hi I'm down to 1 x 500 metformin a day. When is the best time to take this, never been told. After breakfast or after dinner? Will taking at a particular time help hba1c? Thanks.

    Metformin

Hi, Is it possible that metformin can cause a dry mouth in the night? I only take 1 x slow 500 slow release as hba1c is 39. I have stopped taking it at night and now take in the morning and no more dry mouth. Is this coincidental?

    Hba1c and Metformin dose

I've decided to reduce to 1 tablet. I'm checking my sugars these last few days and seems to be about 4.5 to 5 before dinner and about 6 to 6.5 2 hours later so thinking I should reduce to 1 and see what happens in 12 weeks. Last night, it was 4.6 about 2.5 hours after eating. Feeling very...

    Hba1c and Metformin dose

Thank you for replying. Yes, I plan to keep an open mind tbh and am aware of some of the downsides to not taking it all. I need to check with her as to what's going on with my b vitamin 12 anyway and check if the Metformin is causing an issue as my results were abnormal -but expected so no...

    Hba1c and Metformin dose

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me. It seems I have a bit of thinking to do on the current dose. I would be happy to knock off a pill and see what happens maybe. Decisions decisions.

    Hba1c and Metformin dose

Hi all. Quick question .... I got my hba1c back last week and it was 40. In fact, it had come down from 42 on my previous test even though I'd cut my metformin from 2000mg to 1000mg. What disappoints me is that I've seen these results on line and noone at my surgery has called me. Is this...
