Does fresh fruit sugar increase blood sugar

It gives us all a chance to say - yikes! use a meter for god's sake! :-) And btw pears are the worst for me! Carb counts aside, I could have 2 bananas before I'd spike as high as 1/2 a pear. Weird differences amongst us.

Does fresh fruit sugar increase blood sugar

It's like talking to my dietician friends at work - I can explain that I have blood sugar issues and they nod their head sympathetically, then offer me a fruit salad.

    Data-Driven Fasting?

I don't think we easily can tell if we are "truly" hungry! I have people tell me it's "from your stomach" or many other clues that make them think it's true hunger. For a type 2 diabetic, I really think it's much much more difficult. For me, if my blood sugar goes up a bit and then down...

    Data-Driven Fasting?

Thanks Oldgreymare! :-) I have my Master's Degree in Physiology!!!! :-) I teach at a community college. Your response pretty much matches my skepticism of this new plan...... I was willing to try it for a week or so, but the results have stunk. My fasting blood glucose just keeps going up and...

    Data-Driven Fasting?

I'm just curious if anyone here has thoughts on this program: https://optimisingnutrition.com/data-driven-fasting/ The premise is don't eat until your blood sugar drops below a personalized trigger level (for example, mine right now would be about 4.4; one of those perfectly healthy people...

    Carb confused

I second the recommendation to get a glucometer. They are cheap and an easy way to find your personal carbohydrate tolerance. Personally, I can't imagine just trying to "guess" how many carbs I can have in a meal, or which type affect me more quickly/strongly than others. I don't want to...

How long are you on LCHF diet?

Low Carb (50-75g/day) since July 2018. Now lowering even more (less than 20) and finally seeing my FBG drop! But I love that someone asked this question because I get scared hearing about people getting gradually raising FBG on keto, or getting thyroid issues, or getting sex hormone issues...

in ketosis with high blood sugar?

Thank you. So in your opinion anything under 1.5mmol doesn't really "count" as ketosis? I guess that would certainly put my question to rest. I was kind of wondering about that. Most articles say .5 and above is considered ketosis, but then there's "nutritional" ketosis and then there's...

in ketosis with high blood sugar?

Only 1 hour. I guess it's possible my poor ketones didn't even have time to get soaked up by any cells before my poor bloodstream was slammed with all that **** sugar.

in ketosis with high blood sugar?

Background to my question: I have prediabetes with normal post-prandials as long as I eat well. My fasting blood sugar is stubbornly prediabetic unless I have wine in the evening (my non-prescription metformin, I call it). I had a piece of cake (shouldn't have, obviously) and blood sugar up to...

Type 2 Physiological IR/Adaptive Glucose Sparing

I just listened to a delightful podcast of Ivor's (on Paul Saladino's podcast) and they spent a nice amount of time discussing the (minority of) individuals that do respond poorly to diets high in saturated fats, particularly cheese. So it's a thing, even Ivor acknowledges. The question is -...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

John - sorry to ask a question that maybe you get all the time.... but what is "other" for your condition? :-)
