I have been told by diabetic nurse that the maximum is 160 am and 160 PM.. It doesn't seem to be working for me. I will be seeing the nurse Thursday and we will be discussing alternatives. I was wondering whether to try slow release metformin again. It might not give me diarrhoea this time.

I am participating in research for diabetes and heart related problems so I am having regular contact with a diabetic nurse. I am having visits from stroke nurse and will be having an ecg 72 hour monitor fitted next week. So I am being looked after. However I am still worried that my blood sugar...

I don't understand what's happening with my blood sugar levels. Until I had the heart attack my readings were always in the 7s. I had the heart attack in January and a stroke 2 weeks ago. I was taking 40mg gliclazide a day. It has been increased and now I am taking 160mg morning and 120mg...

    Why this forum is GOOD

I don't post very often but I do log on every day and read with the interest members' topics. Sometimes there are differences expressed but surely that is good (unless it is personal destructive criticism) - I generally view it as banter and people are going to have different opinions. I don't...

Up to now I am managing to control imy diabetes by diet - readings are not as good as some members on this site usually around 7.0. My doctor will...

    DN Allocated Time Slots

Hi Katherine I agree with your new nurse. How can you possibly go through the checks as well as respond to the questions patients have thought of since the previous visit. It is very frustrating and it makes us feel as though we are not receiving the proper care. I suppose that there is...

    DN Allocated Time Slots

I was diagnosed Type2 three years ago. I am managing to control my diabetes through diet. I visit my DN every three months and in the beginning she seemed happy to answer my many questions. However, the last two visits have been hurried (she says that they only have 15 min time slots). She...

    Skin Breaking Under Toes

Every now and then I get skin breaks at the bottom of my little toes. It looks like a cut but it isn't. I dab surgical spirit on the area to help dry it up but it takes ages to heal over. I'm so anxious that it might get infected. Does anyone know of anything better to heal the break quicker...
