    Low Carb Program

I have the low carb programme and keep forgetting about it - Pinterest is my go to for ideas and variety ;)

Doctor says I have to stay on metformin

Going to throw my two penneth in re coming off Metformin ... I was diagnosed with an A1c of 61 - immediately they put me on Metformin, I had horrendous side effects and it ruined my stomach but I persevered as I had no intention of the diagnosis being more than a blip! A1c went down to a...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I've been a bit slack with food lately but today I went with: Fried eggs & bacon Peanut butter cookie/cream cheese cookies from Ditch the Carbs website Coconut Lime Chicken and a small serving of baby new potatoes from A Saucy Kitchen Haven't measure the carb value but it'll be quite low...

    Officially off the meds

Metformin did that to me :wideyed: both the normal and SR, although I did lose weight. The gliclazide has had less side effects but weight loss has been a nightmare (in fact I've gained 6 lbs of the initial 16lbs lost).

    Officially off the meds

So glad to be able to announce - I'm off the meds (imagine me dancing!) Started the year in poor health, A1c of 60, down to 41 in July and at 42 this week. Weight is slowly creeping on after initial loss so PN has taken me off the gliclazide, albeit to be retested in 6 weeks as a safety...

    Whats You Hba1c

Well done :) Had mine done Tuesday and it's gone up 1 to 42 BUT I've been really bad at eating so I'm really relieved and happy for that.

Just Diagnosed As Prediabetic Today And Put On Metformin

I cannot do decent fasting numbers at all - my morning monitored BG figure has never been below 7.8 but is more often than not between 8.5 and 9.2, and my A1c last month was 41. The OGTT are always done fasting overnight and so the evidence points to early morning spikes for me but the nurse...

    Need Opinions On This

Hi everyone, I had a very strange call from my GP today and I really don't know how to take it or to do anything about it so hubby suggested getting it out here and getting opinions! I've put my medical history out before and there is a brief timeline in my signature, but I believed I had BG...

    Should I Feel Unwell

My diagnosis was at 60 and like you, I was straight onto Metformin, which did not agree with me, neither did the SR so I was put on gliclazide. I had my 6 month A1c which was down to 41 :) However, despite the low A1c I still have high morning results! It doesn't matter what I do, they are...

Lchf But Not Keto .... Possible?

I can mirror @Rachox - I was diagnosed in March and immediately started low-carbing, aiming at under 100g a day but I quickly saw that aim drop to 50g and I rarely need to work to keep under that now. I find that many days my carbs are under 20g just through routine and not planning now. I've...

Just Diagnosed As Prediabetic Today And Put On Metformin

Sorry, I'm late to this thread, so you may have had an appointment already but I would ask for an A1c to be done as a benchmark. I was led to believe (for many years) that I was pre-diabetic based on OGTT tests. I recently got access to my medical records and the OGTT tests have always put me...

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

Another vote here for the SD Codefree and I use it in conjunction with mysugr too. I still wince when I hear people say their doc/PN/local authority won't fund testing for T2s due to lack of hypo! Testing is essential to understand how your diet affects your levels and how you can make quick...

    Mysugr & Hba1c

Thanks, I have some this and as I use a SD codefree the cost isn't too prohibitive :)

    Mysugr & Hba1c

@xfieldok I had a lot of entries in Jan/Feb where my testing results were high and I only tested 2x a day, more recently it is 6x a day (although just been on holiday ignored the meter and just ate sensibly without testing rigorously). I was hoping to "reset" the A1c but sounds like I just...
