Thanks for the replies. BG tests done at doctors and have. Y next one on Tuesday so I’ll mention dry mouth when I’m there. I’m really careful not to take any sugars so I’m wondering if it could be due to the low carb diet. I’m taking on board no more than 30g of carbs a day and have been for the...
Hi folks. Was wondering if someone can help. Managed to get my numbers down from 82 to 46 in 3 months and have lost 16 kg since and I am on a very low carb diet. In the last couple of months I have been experiencing a dry mouth and my lips often feel sticky. Any thoughts on why this is and what...
Hi Folks. Feeling pretty pleased with myself at the moment. I was diagnosed as T2 3 months ago with an Hba1c of 82. Since the I’ve worked really hard and lost 1st 9lbs, eaten carefully and just had my Hba1c has dropped to 46.
As part of my on going weight loss I have a large amount of good quality clothes that no longer fit me. Normally I would take these to a local charity shop however since being diagnosed with T2 I was wondering if there were any diabetics charity shops that accept clothing donations. Anyone know...
I’m not sure if this is the right area to post this but I’m currently on holiday and as a newly diagnosed T2 (six weeks ago) I was wondering if anyone had any guidance or suggestions on what drinks I could have. I’ve looked up things like jack Daniel’s and Coke Zero but I’m still a bit wary. Any...
Adam. That’s fantastic. You should feel very proud of yourself. Your journey so far will help inspire others. It certainly has me. I’ve lost 17 lbs in the past month and am also on metformin but I’m determined to lose more weight and get into remission. Keep going. You’re doing so well.
Blade that’s so encouraging. I was diagnosed just over a month ago and have lost just over a stone on a low carb diet and walking. Really interested in the low carb bread and rice you mention. Can you give me the details?
Sorry if I’m being a pain but I’ve now had my consultation with my doctor and he has put me on metformin straight away. I’ve asked for the slow release as I’ve heard that the other version can have some undesirable side effects. Does this drug help ease my diabetic thirst?
That’s so encouraging to hear. One really determined to get my levels below 48 but I know I can do it. I thought a low carb diet would be hard but so far I’m actually really enjoying it especially as I now feel that everything I am putting into my body is helping as opposed to before. Will let...
I think my weight came into it because I am about 4 stone (56 lbs) overweight. Generally before last week I will admit my diet was dreadful. Lots of sweets ice cream cakes biscuits, the list goes on. But is a hba1c of 82 really bad?
Hi there. I have just had the results of my first hba1c test which has come back as 82. I’m waiting for my doctor to call me this evening to discuss in more detail but is a level of 82 high? I’m hoping it may have dropped in the past week as I had a telephone consultation with my dr last week...
Thanks for the suggestions. All things that I like. Picked up a few of these things at the supermarket but probably more luck than judgement but I’m still learning. Have ordered a book called Carbs & Cals which was recommended to me. It’s a bit scary being diagnosed and I wish I’d listened to my...
Hi. Just been diagnosed with T2 and trying to get my head round the lifestyle changes I need to make. Just got back from a 3 hour supermarket shopping trip and for the first time ever checked each package for the nutritional info and never realised just how many carbs were in my (now former)...
