I don't know what it is about us (Type2) that makes us beat ourselves up so much!
WELL DONE for losing that much weight in such a short time.
I have a disease. I didn't knowingly cause it. I'm doing everything I can to address it and there are a billion conflicting messages of advice out there...
Result yesterday down to 43 from 53 when diagnosed in July.
I credit this forum for most of this improvement, plus the Libre 2 week free trial! Thank you lovely people.
I celebrated with some homemade low carb brownies and cream.
Diabetes nurse I have now is very supportive and encouraging...
So my Libre trial ran out and I’m just using a simple finger prick test some mornings and about 2hr after new meals so I can see how they affect blood glucose.
I was missing pasta a lot today so I found a simple recipe online (32g each of lupin flour and wheat gluten plus an egg) and made my...
Okay so I've discovered Linseed porridge.
Ingredients
32g linseed
25g almonds
15g protein powder
Water (enough)
80g raspberries
5g oat fibre
10g chia seeds
1. Blend 1/2 the linseed, oat fibre, protein powder and all the almonds with water (a few cups) for a few minutes to make the "milk"
2...
I had the Libre for 2 weeks on a trial. Right until Day 14 it was excellent. On the last evening we'd been in a spa for 4 hours followed by a couple of beers and a low carb dinner. The app started complaining my bg was very low and dropping. Below 4. Then 2.1. I did feel a bit light headed. By...
I read somewhere that adding oat fibre to almond flour helps make it taste more like wheat bread. I've not tried it yet but I will soon and let you know.
I've eaten "healthy" porridge for years. Well until I worked out what it did to my blood sugar a few weeks ago that is!
Using a CGM I could see that even if I made it with half the oats (20g), water instead of milk and soaked it the day before it would still spike my blood sugar first thing in...
I have found that exercise after meals didn't work for me - it pushed up BG higher and got longer. It was better for me to relax and wait until BG was back to normal after a meal before exercising.
I'd recommend the CGM from Libre if you can get one. I had it for 2 weeks on a free trial with...
Just been reading through this thread and looked up my records..
I’m frankly a bit disappointed with my GP surgery since I’ve been going for regular tests as invited and HbA1c hasn’t really been brought up until this year when I received an invitation to a retinopathy eye test unexpectedly...
I have had itching in my lower legs for the last couple of years, long before my T2 diagnosis. Never pinned down the cause and just kinda got used to it, applying various creams to no effect and avoiding wearing long pants.
Since going low carb this has completely cleared up - no itching...
I've started having cream in coffee in place of milk. Totally enjoying eggs and not missing porridge too much. I put chia and grind flaxseed into a shake to make up the needed fibre. Going pretty well, average 6.2 glucose all this week. Lost about 2st since July, just 1 to go...
