In my experience Gliclazide alone won't keep bgs down. I'm on a very low carb diet which in addition to Gliclazide helps. If I forget to take the med then my bgs shoot up pretty quickly.
As has been said there could be a myriad of reasons why your bgs have risen. T2 diabetes behaves in a non...
I eat about max 10g carbs per meal because I'm very insulin resistant. I used to eat four meals a day but have cut down that to three meals a day. The easiest way for me to do this is to have my last meal 7pm to 8pm.
I made my own list of low carb foods by looking at the net carbs not the total...
I stopped eating after 7-8pm a few days ago. Not any discernible difference in BGs but that's ok as not having something to eat before bedtime has cut down my meals to 3 a day and also gives me a 12 hour fast.
I haven't had any real hunger issues and I usually take a glass of zero carb soya...
I was thinking of doing that but as the recipe is from a book I was worried if I posted it publicly it might infringe copyright although from I what I've read copyright of recipes is a difficult area. I also read that if one changes the recipe a little then there are no copyright issues.
GI has rarely worked for me. If you PM me I can send you a recipe for bread rolls made from psyllium husks and flax meal and come in at around 3.1g per roll. They are quite fluffy and tasty.
They have a branch in London

My inner tightfisted child objects to being charged the same without the toast, hash browns etc. So when faced with the odd breakfast I make it a "day off" day. If on holidays then I opt for bed without breakfast and either bring my own (tinned fish or cheese etc) or go to a cafe and hope they...
The British Heart Foundation's recommendation makes sense - certainly not the ridiculous 120/70 that I've seen touted by some around the medical world.
I can't help feeling that there are people out there that won't rest until we're all on BP meds irrespective of whether we need them or not...
The best way to find restaurants where you control your carbs is to check out restaurants that charge separately for side dishes. It does work out a little more expensive but not when it's our health that's the issue.
It's sort of comforting that they use 140/90 as a cut off for BP which is probably more realistic.
I wonder if the Cochrane Institute has any opinion on best practices re: diabetes?
The only thing about that is that if you ate the same amount of carbs in broccoli (that might be about 270g broccoli) as a few cans of beer you might have problems with wind.
