    Update and Ozempic

Over the last couple of years my HB1ac was starting to rise, peaking at 61 in June this year despite my weight being stable, but too high at 16 stone. I was 18'5 when diagnosed, went down to 15 stone then very gradually gained a stone. My HB1ac in June was 61 which I was unhappy about, as was...

    12 Years in, where now?

Hi Couscous Interestingly since my first post 6 days ago, I have worked quite hard to eat even more sensibly (not that I was eating particularly badly before), and I am down a kilo. My things that seem to work are; - Keep a very honest food diary, counting carbs and calories. I have done...

    12 Years in, where now?

Thanks for that interesting answer. I think when I was diagnosed I read all the literature I could on T2, including the NICE pathway and some scientific papers (I have a scientific background), and it scared the c**p out of me. I had visions of being very disabled very quickly if I did not get...

    12 Years in, where now?

Dear all Many thanks for taking the time to respond and give me your opinions. I think I am going to try to get my BMI under 30 over the next year, and see where that takes me, as well as cutting carbs a bit lower. On reviewing my food diary I have slipped into some bad habits, the occasional...

I mainly drink very dry white wine with perhaps 3-4 pints of lager per week. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for that. For me that is a little bit extreme, but I understand your position.

    12 Years in, where now?

Hi All Not posted for years! Was diagnosed when 49 with v high blood sugars. Now 61 Put on metformin. I started a food diary, and since then I have aimed to keep my daily carbs at under 150, which I consistently do. My Hb1AC was soon down to the 42 - 48 range and has stayed there until now...

    Advice for review meeting tomorrow.

Thanks all. Helen, I agree, but she could have said that the infection may have effected the result, so we will repeat the test in a week or a month.

    Advice for review meeting tomorrow.

So, a year ago I had my annual review, all was OK apart from the ACR kidney test, that had gone up from 0.48 the year before to 5.83. At the time of my blood tests I had a urine infection that I had got swimming in the caribbean, and was taking antibiotics, so I asked the nurse if the infection...

    New diagnosis

If you are trying to control carbs, there is an excellent app called 'Carbs and Cals'. It has pictures of portion sizes and is really useful for me.

    Back to 43

Thanks all. Bizarrely, since I got the results I have been much better on my diet, encouraged by the reasonable result. I just try to keep my carbs to less than 150g per day, and that seems to work reasonably well for me. Lately I have tried a couple of days sub 100, but this seems to push up my...

    Back to 43

Just had my annual review. Must admit I was very concerned as I have not had a good year diet wise, and have slipped back into eating the wrong things a bit too often. I think I experienced 'burnout' for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised that my HB1ac has only gone up 3 to 43. Had...

    FURIOUS!!!

I went abroad once for 3 nights and forgot my metformin. Didn't change my results at all. My local pharmacy repeat service works very well, although I always order 2-3 weeks in advance so I make sure I don't run out.

    Pleased and slightly surprised

Thanks @Prem51. Your figures are really good. Are you on medication? Your figures, and my own, lead me to think that there are a few types of type 2, and actually the prople who are overweight on diagnosis are in a better place than those who are thin. If you are a fat type 2, as I was, the loss...
