I have a Contour Next One (got for free from the Contour website) strips are about 23 euro for 50, so there are definately cheaper models out there but I like that it syncs to an app on my phone and has all of my history there without me needing to remember to enter it.

I'm newly diagnosed and still testing foods, had a similar experience and bye bye rice :( Have found steamed bags of cauliflower rice (wok fried with some seasoning, chilli and garlic) to be a good substitute though! Haven't been able to say no to pasta just yet :-/
