    “Wrong type of diabetes”

I had a friend in this situation, and gave him a spare meter I had and he buys strips off eBay. His GP was well impressed that he had managed to control his BG levels on diet alone. Just think what savings could be made when future treatments due to uncontrolled BG were removed by giving a pot...

Psychologists report states obesity stigma must stop

When I was diagnosed as T2 I weighed just over 8 stones at 5’8”. Hardly overweight. The thing that bugs me is how T2s are always associated with obesity when this is not the case.

    PAD

Thanks. I had 5 Angios with my heart, with no adverse effects, but this time, as soon as the contrast went in, my heart started racing and I felt really awful. I think this was a panic attack or the like, and since I will probably have to have 2 more with this op, one before and one after I...

    PAD

After a few months suffering increasing pain in my calves when walking, I have been diagnosed with PAD. I am T2 on insulin for 30 years. Due to having a minor heart attack 10 years ago, I am already on all meds possible, so it has been a quick route to surgery. I am being admitted on 31/7 for...

    Jardiance

Thanks! Went to clinic, spoke to nurse, having written out a page of reasons why I would like a trial. She is going to speak to consultant and get back to me. She did say however, that we are a bit slow on the uptake in this area, so she doesn’t know of anyone that has been prescribed this...

Lol, yes, it was the old version, no sugar definitely, but once I went onto insulin it was counting grams of carb and matching insulin to carbs eaten, so weight did increase. I tried Keto, but really struggled with it. Quite low carbs now, but not no carbs. Am 11 stones or thereabouts at 5feet...

I have been T2 for about 30 years now, preceded by 3 gestational diabetes pregnancies, first one not even diagnosed until 3 weeks before delivery, second one controlled by diet and third by insulin. Had a gap for a couple of years, then it returned with a bang, major weight loss etc etc. Went...

I find it accurate too. U had read concerns re it’s accuracy and the DN and I did a simultaneous test with her meter and mine and they both came out the same. As far as the Libre goes, I can’t see Norfolk touching that until at least 2050 and I will either be no longer here, or no longer care!

Lucky you! Like you I got my meter unexpectedly, via Facebook I believe! Whatever. It’s been the best meter I have had, having an iPad too makes it easy to send the diabetic nurse an upload with all my history on. This means I can see either her, or the Prof depending on the results I send...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi. My name is Kim. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in 1983 but it was too late to do anything as my sone was born a week later! Again in 1985, treated with diet from 20 weeks, then again in 1988 and had insulin from12 weeks. Came back with a vengeance in 1992, and have been on...
