Anybody on here with an MSA rally license?

I started my own business in 2010 so the racing money had to go elsewhere I enjoyed what I did immensely though, still use the skills I learned regularly and have very fond memories of the Nurburgring. :-) :-)

Anybody on here with an MSA rally license?

I've been type 1 since 1983 and had an MSA race license until a couple of years ago. I think all I did to start with was get a letter from my GP and went to see the MSA medical expert (Dr Dorrington Ward) in London for a chat. At renewal I had a medical each year but, once you have the...

    Insulin Pump question

I've had a pump for about 3 years now. Diagnosed T1 in 1983 and had been using pens for years. I had injection site issues and loss of hypo awareness. The pump has it's own limitations but, for me, it changed me life and my control is now a lot better than it ever was on the pens.

22 month old son newly diagnosed with type 1

Hello and welcome. It will be hard to know whether moods are the result of diabetes, or not, for a while. My 6 year old daughter has severe mood swings but is not diabetic. If possible try to do blood tests to establish a pattern - then any advice, be it on here or from your diabetes team...

    Diabetes onset.

Thanks for the replies. I should point out that my daughter asked me to do the test. I put a new needle in the finger pricker and turned the depth gauge down. She sees me testing my own blood daily. My interest in viewpoints was not in the act but the result. My own result was 6.3. We all...

    Diabetes onset.

No not really, she's a little overweight but I've been putting that down to portion sizes. Always hungry but what kid isn't? Tested blood sugar today because she's a moody little oik and I thought I might have noticed a link between food and mood. She eats good food, home cooked meals etc...

    Diabetes onset.

I've been Type 1 since 1983. Just tested my 6 year old daughter's blood sugar and the result is 9.2. Is this high enough for us to be concerned about her being diabetic? No history of diabetes in my family or her mother's. Sensible to test again tomorrow but she cried like a baby and...

Type 1's who have maintained their weight- looking for tips and hope

I agree - I lost 3kg in 6 months because I started walking down the stairs at the office twice a day. I only work on the 6th floor and found I was reaching the ground floor faster than the lift anyway, half the time. However I still suffer alarming drops in blood sugar as a result of exercise...

    Insulin Pumps

I got a pump due to non-existent hypo awareness. Been T1 since 1983. It changed my life and I would have bought one had I not got it on the NHS.

    Disaster

I'd be surprised if two vodkas was enough to cause a spike, but I have used full fat coke to treat a hypo in the past and it worked very well.

    Sharps Bin

I don't get on with my surgery and they seem to think I'm enough of a drain on the system already so it's easier for me to deal with the chemist directly.

    Sharps Bin

I asked my GP for a sharps bin and was refused. I took my used sharps to the chemist in a plastic bottle/glass jar for years until they took pity on me (or got sick of transferring them into an authorised container) and gave me a small sharps bin.

13 year old daughter recently diagnosed with T1D

I was diagnosed T1 at age 11 but that was in 1983! For the last four years or so I've been using a Medtronic pump and it's changed my life tbh. BTW diabetes never stopped me from doing anything.

    New diagnosis

I was diagnosed Type 1 at 12, but that was back in 1983! Disappointing you haven't been given the basic info you need, have you got a blood testing machine so you can check your own levels?

    Scary night time hypo

Before I got my pump I had a few scary hypos. I've been Type 1 for 31 years and had been on pens for most of that time. The eventual conclusion was that a layer of fat had built up under the skin meaning the insulin was not being absorbed. It would build up and build up and eventually get...
