Well it explains my ******* erratic sugars which has sent my mind boggling.professionals eh. ******* armatures not happy but what can a do? Nothing it's all on the NHS
The pump was every answer to every question I ever had and was thankfully never on a waiting list for it. I was given it within a matter of months but did have to put in the work with carb counting classes and a better understanding of how our weird and wonderful bodies work in relation to...
I will back this up 100%. Was diagnosed as a child aged 8. ( now 33 years old) never really cared for my diabetes through my teenage years and into my late 20's. I am now in a rehab hub centre and on an insulin pump which has been the best thing I've ever done.
Don't really know much about other pumps but I have the Medtronic and pretty sure they will all be in par with each other bulk wise as u need kinda the same changing gear but I may be wrong. If i were u I'd stick with what I'm using as know how long it took me to adjust even after changing sets...
Well I was told I can have my pump OFF for up to an hour and its still safe and won't send sugars crazy high as its only basal being pumped which in my case is micro units every 10 mins with Medtronic pump
Re: Blood monitoring at work
Being diabetic for 25 years I take it in my stride and will honestly inject or test my blood anywhere at all, infront of anyone!! Injecting myself infront of anyone would never bother me. If they want to stare let them! Then if they want to ask any questions u have...
Government must be pushing them cos of more funding as I have been on mine for 6 months now. Didn't know much about them before they recommended it for me. My lantus wasn't working the way it was during the day and giving hypos during sleeping. With the pump the basal is set to how your body...
Re: How long does it take to get use to the pump when you ge
I agree with the above it takes a couple of weeks to get into the swing of it and a couple of months thereafter adjusting basal as to how ur body reacts to carbs and novo rapid. Good luck bug u won't need it. Best thing av done
Re: Who is the pump for
I got the pump 6 months ago and it's not for diabetics who have bad control. I was recommended by my dietician as my lantus basal was working perfectly during the day but making my BG plummet when sleeping. Didn't they do well NO MORE NIGHT TIME HYPO's.
I've been type 1 since I can remember and am 32 only been in the pump for 6 months. YOU MUST GET ANOTHER BG MONITOR AS ITS VITAL INFORMATION IT SENDS AND SAVES ON YOUR PUMP. The pump wasn't an option when I was ur age and u are so lucky to have 1. Best things to eat are things out shops with...
Re: I have lower my insulin but i still go to hypo ... Then
It's not healthy for anyone not to eat at least 100g of carbs a day at least. This is what your liver needs to have ur back up glucose emergency supply ( basically if u are hypo ur liver will do its best to sort it out) but if u don't...
