    Metformin

Don’t know any U.K. pharmacy that is allowed to dispense individual pills in a bottle. All prescriptions must be supplied in sealed packets along with the appropriate leaflets, batch codes and dates.

    Approved for Libre 2

I was trying to find the costs from their website as my GP will not entertain anything outside of my supplied Jazz meter and 25 strips a month, therefore I don’t bother with it and use my Code Free all of the time. Can you give me an idea of the self funded cost please.

One of my meters is lying

I found a very similar problem. My code free has been good for me, but my GP gave me a new machine 6 weeks ago, a Wavesense Jazz. The readings were way out from my code free so I called the manufacturers. We worked out the problem. The Jazz lancets are very very thin so the blood sample for that...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Whoops - 13.2[emoji34] Before dinner last night it was 8.1 - dinner was a KFC and a beer, so won’t do that again [emoji35]

    Lancet needles

Wow - must be like trying to shove a blunt pencil into your finger

    Lancet needles

How often do you change your lancet needles? I guess I’m pretty lazy, but if you are out and about changing needles for a quick BS check is a faff, so sometime I can re-use it a good few times. So how many times do you re-use yours - I mean it’s only used by you, and you keep it clean in your...

    Jazz Wavesense

I use the SD Code Free meter, and have done for a few years. As far as I’m concerned it’s pretty accurate, and most importantly as I was paying for it myself, inexpensive. My GP’s nurse (not a DSN) insisted I started using this Jazz my meter and then gave it to me free of charge. First reading I...

Pfizer vaccine - low blood glucose?

Had my Pfizer 2nd vaccination yesterday - no change in my readings even though I expected one

    Type 2 DVLA - T2 - Gliclazide

All in the melting pot - but until I find a qualified DSN (few and far between) or an interested GP it’s all speculation. My appointment with a proper DSN has been made - it’s in August. To get back to see my GP takes 6 weeks, at least

    Type 2 DVLA - T2 - Gliclazide

Problem is, real DSN’s are few and far between. Very few, if any, GP surgeries have one. They send a nurse off for a one day course, they come back experts. Mine took my BS reading after wiping my finger with an alcohol swab and got a reading of 33.7. She said wow, that’s dangerously high, then...

    Type 2 DVLA - T2 - Gliclazide

Doesn't look like that is too onerous - it's all about hypo's, which with my BS level being ridiculously high at the moment, is not on the cards. But reading between the lines nothing will happen if I fill in the forms, but if I have an accident of any sort and don't fill it in, I guess the...

    Type 2 DVLA - T2 - Gliclazide

My blood sugars have taken a big wobble over the past 8 weeks, bouncing between 12 and 23, with a weight loss of 16lbs. After a struggle I get to see what I thought was a DSN at my local health centre, and she gets me on Gliclazide, along with my Metformin SR, Sitaglyptin, and Empflagozin. She...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

11.5 - everything is a mare right now. Just been put on Gliptizide but that’s having no effect right now.

    Worst review with DSN

I am afraid my confidence of self proclaimed DSN's is pretty low. I was called for my 6 monthly review, by letter, which stated that my blood test form was enclosed - it wasn't. I attended my review and said to the DSN that I haven't had my blood test done yet. Its no problem she said we are...
