starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

I just wanted to post a good news story I started the ND on Feb 1st and lasted until 15th March (so 6 weeks). I was having a shake for lunch and a soup for dinner so all told probably less than 400 cals a day. I admire those that lasted the full 8 weeks, but for me I can only liken it to cold...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

I'm due to go and see the Bootleg Beatles for my birthday tonight. I really fancy going for a pizza beforehand. AAArrrghhhh, the mental turmoil of deciding whether having a one off treat is that horrific. My wife wants to send me to Colditz for even suggesting it!! "you've done so well"...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

My understanding was Viv that part of this diet burns the fat from the pancreas, re-activating the cells within it in the process. Therefore, once completed we should return to a 'normal' person. Losing weight and eating healthily is what to docs recommend. Nothing groudbreaking about that

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

Just a quick question....has anyone completed this diet and gone to their GP, had tests and then be told they are no longer diabetic? How will we know if we're cured? I started my diet on 1st Feb, so I'm half way through and I've currently lost 24.5 lbs. I'm loving all the comments coming my...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

I am now a couple of days away from the half way point. Weight loss stands at 19lbs so far. Now 7lbs away from being in the green zone on a BMI chart and 11lbs away from losing 15% of my body weight. :D I've been using slimfast shakes (made with water of course!). Have to say I quite enjoy...

I was told exactly the same Bluehills re testing strips. To be fair, up until the appointment I had with her regarding this diet, she had been nothing short of brilliant. Really took her time to explain the condition, causes, effects, treatments etc. Not unusual for a 5 min appt to take 25 mins...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

I hit three weeks on this diet tomorrow, I have to say I've nearly caved so many times (making my daughter a cheese sandwich and not eating any cheese as I sliced it has to be similar to waterboarding!!). Still kept to the letter of the diet so far. Day 1 Morning BG 17.0 Weight 14st 7 1/2 or...

Immis, Not been to the gym since I started the diet (haven't been since December truth be told!). Starting again tomorrow. Going to start with a session on the cross trainer or bike and see how I feel after that. Been making the shakes with water not milk. Diet has consisted of shake for...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

Went to see my diabetic specialist today. Wanted nothing to do with this diet. While she didn't dispute the findings of the Newcastle study, she down played the effectiveness of it. I feel very jealous of those of you whose gp has been supportive. On the diet front, had a very depressing couple...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

I started my diet last Wednesday. I have to say I thought it was going to be hard, but I didn't realise how hard it would be. These first few days everything seems to remind me of food. Also, it's like I suddenly have the nose of a bloodhound. Walking down the street the smells eminating from...

    Metformin and alcohol

Hi all, 1st post, so go easy! I have been reading through the forums for any snippets regarding alcohol and diabetes. Mainly because there has been a definite correlation between the effect alcohol has on me since I have been diagnosed as Type 2. Hangovers are now fearsome and I seem to get...
