Today Is May 21st - Surgery Date for....

Thanks @donnellysdogs I see the first surgeon on 20th June and the renal surgeon in a couple of months. Wound is enormous .. from just under my breastbone down to my pubic area. Took 44 clips but it has healed amazingly well. I put that down to my fitness, skin care, keto diet. High dose vit C...

    I'm Back

Hi everyone. I'm slowly getting back to normality after my big operation on May 21st. Home now but can only sit for about 20 minutes at a time at the PC as the massive scar makes it uncomfortable. Improving daily though. They do say it takes six months to a year to recover. Hospital food was...

Today Is May 21st - Surgery Date for....

Thank you so much everyone. I'm home now but only able to sit at PC for about twenty mins at a time. Operation took ten hours and the surgeons say I did well. Very slow progress but I can walk around the garden a bit. Not allowed to lift anything or drive for six weeks. One bonus is I have...

    Foot neuropathy

Totally off on a different tack here and it might not be relevant. You have lost a lot of weight, which means you will have lost some of the padding on the soles of your feet. This will make them more sensitive and painful on exercise. There is a name for this .. eluding me at the moment.. but...

How long until I get control?

You've halved it in less than a week. That's great going! Looks like you have a meter and that will be your best friend. Test to see what foods spike you and which you are OK with. It's a marathon not a sprint and you've made a great start

    Bad news Update

Yes, that's true. They can only do the surgery if there is no spread, and so far there isn't. Operation booked for the 21st may and I'm feeling sick with nerves !

    High BG reading

You are doing the right thing and tracking what you eat with a meter. Try the rice and chickpeas curry separately . Try smaller portions. I can get away with a few chickpeas but not rice. Are you vegetarian ? If not add meat to your curry. Alternatively mushrooms. and low carb vegetables added...

    Feeling Fobbed off !!

Your doctor is a knob ! .. very much like mine who believes that diet won't help. I threw the metformin in the bin after feeling really ill on them and have controlled very well with diet alone. Stick with what you are doing, it sounds like you have more of a grip on this than your GP ever will...
