Uneven absorption ?!?!

Hi John I'd be very interested to hear the outcome of this. Please let us know if/when you find out.

    You & your GP

I think it must be the ways in which GPs work, Sarah. My one is so regimented in their ways it's very difficult for me to get anything other than what THEIR computer says. Countless times I've gone up there and asked for more of something only to be told, "it's not due".

    You & your GP

If we as users were to find that we had too many test strips, we could tell the GP that we only needed so many the next time, and they could adjust accordingly. This is where the problem lies in that most GPs are not flexible with their prescriptions.

    You & your GP

Very interesting reading through the replies in this topic so far. It would appear that not everyone has problems with their GPs although the majority do. I guess it depends on location as to whether or not you get a good one. I must admit when I lived in Harrow my GP was excellent...

    You & your GP

That's exactly my point too, Paul. They treat you like you're trying to make some personal gain. Other than to another diabetic (who has the same machine) the test strips are as much use to anyone else as a chocolate teapot!

    You & your GP

Yes, I'm going back to the Specialist in January and will see if he'll write something for the GP to take note of. The responsible thing is to remain calm (ahahaaa!!) and endeavour to beat these people by using their own system. I have built up a very good relationship with my local...

    You & your GP

I actually drive for a living and the Specialist told me to check BS before I take the van out, and then every 2 hours whilst on the road. I've been on insulin for 41 years and luckily had no side complaints, However, the last year or so my warning signs for hypos have become less, so the BS...

    You & your GP

I can only sympathise with you, Martin. I'm type 1 myself, and as you mentioned Test Strips, that's the thing I've had a disagreement about today. The hospital gave me a new machine last week with a few strips to keep me going, and a letter to the GP to get my prescription changed. Over the...

    You & your GP

I could fill pages with the arguments, and confrontations that go on at my local GP surgery. How do you guys get on with your repeat prescriptions? Am I alone in having some kind of problem almost every time I put one in?

    Why breakfast?

quote:
Hi Dave, Agree with you about the porridge, but have you tried Oatabix instead of Weetabix. Comes from the same manufacturer but...

Exercise and rising BG - confused!

One more thought - Eating carbs will always raise your BS level to some degree depending on what and how much. After eating and doing your exercise you find your BS to be 7/8 that's not too bad really. The food has kept you going through the exercise.

Exercise and rising BG - confused!

Hi Claire Could it be that the food/veggie juice is taking 2½ - 3 hours to fully get into your system, therefore even with the exercise your BS level has risen? You could eat the same thing one day and not go to the gym and test after a couple of hours to see what result you get. The next...

    40 years a diabetic

Hi Sarah When putting in my repeat prescription about 6 months ago I collected it from the chemist only to discover there was no Actrapid. I went back to the GP and queried this only to be told that it had been discontinued. What happened was that they changed the name to just 'Actrapid'...

Hi everyone, I'm in Middx, and it ain't sunny!

    Why breakfast?

If I eat breakfast it'll normally be either Weetabix or Porridge. If I'm preaching to the converted I apologise, but when talking with a friend the other day he didn't realise that you can make porridge in the microwave, so I'll pass on my 'easy-porridge' recipe. :D Put oats in a bowl - add...
