    Apple iOS 18

I have an iphone which updated last week to 18.3.1. Now the scanner does not work and therefore the sensor is useless on my phone. I've spoken to Abbott about it but it appears this is probably a software problem. My advice would be not to update to the latest iOS.

    Honeymoon period ending!

Thank you. My fast acting is Novorapid. I’ve started approximate carb counting and am waiting for an appointment with a dietician. I’ve just had a crash on a walk, but luckily I had glucose tablets with me. Lots of learning and tweaking with units over the coming days for me.

    Honeymoon period ending!

I have now been reclassified from ‘probably LADA’ to T1 and have my new insulin regime to follow. I’m a little sad to leave LADA behind as after over six years I was beginning to feel I was getting to understand it! Being T1 is so ‘normal’ and I liked the novelty of explaining LADA to people-...

    Honeymoon period ending!

This morning after breakfast I went as high as 21, but came down quickly after a walk. I’ve been doing five miles walking a day for the last six years and it has helped enormously until the last couple of days. Now I’ve raised the lantus, my bg levels seem to have stopped staying high for hours...

    Honeymoon period ending!

Thank you for replying. Yes, I remembered I should do that. I tested for ketones and they were low (0.2). I have a meter and plenty of strips, so I will keep testing every few hours.

LADA after being initially diagnosed as T2

I was also misdiagnosed, but luckily when I went on the T2 Desmond course, one of the presenters said she didn’t think I was T2. I had blood tests and Gad autoantibodies were found. I was slim and had lost weight (from 11 stone to 8.5 in four months) and had my own suspicions. I had even told my...

    Honeymoon period ending!

I think my LADA days are numbered. In the last few days, I’ve lost any control of my blood sugars. For the last two years I was taking Metformin (2000mg) and Lantus (10 units morning and 7 units evening) and my 90 day Time in Range was 82%. It’s suddenly dropped to below 50% and anything I eat...

insulin shots, or only low-carb diet?

I totally agree. I’m 63 and six years in. I eat much better, exercise (walk five miles a day), and feel much younger now than I did before I had diabetes. All the effort has considerable advantages.

    Newly diagnosed

I’m 62 and was first diagnosed as T2 in Jan 2019. I lost weight rapidly and one Diabetes Nurse (not my own) suggested I might not be T2. A GAD test returned 371 units and I was referred to Diabetes Centre who still even now define me as “probably LADA”. I’ve managed my diabetes with diet...

Interested to know about others' LADA / T1.5 journeys

I was initially diagnosed T2 two years ago (Jan 2019). After complaining about excessive weight loss- I went from 10st 6lb to 8st 5lb in five months- I finally got tested and was GAD positive. GP referred me to endo at local hospital who confirmed LADA- my GP hadn’t heard of it and my diabetes...

    Type 1 covid vaccine.

I’m LADA. Had the vaccine yesterday. I thought I’d got away without side effects, but 8 hours after I got headache, tiredness, shivers, sweating, painful joints, dizziness and general flu-like symptoms. These have lasted for over 12 hours and I felt so bad at one point I almost called 111...
